Trend-following methodology: 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter + ADX regime gate
Data via Yahoo Finance / CoinGecko · Not financial advice. For educational purposes only.
bgb at 2.02 with a death cross and macd red and they still call BUY, trend following is wild
thats the whole point tho, ADX 41 means the trend is real. you trade the signal not the crossover
kopliks_ death cross and macd red are lagging prints from the 8.49 slide, ADX 41 says the turn already happened. still needs a 2.07 close on real volume before i touch it
2.07 rejected twice on thin volume, a third attempt with OBV turning up is the one that usually sticks. still sizing small til the close actually prints
macd death cross on something already down 76% from 8.49 is mostly lag imo, by the time it prints the pain happened. the 2.07 level tells you more than any indicator here
The backtest says -20.6% over two years with 40% win rate and the signal is still BUY at 2.02? I mean the trend system did beat buy and hold by nearly 30 points but that is a low bar when hold lost half. Respect to anyone taking these signals with the 1.90 stop though.
torque_eth the stop at 1.90 is barely below the 50d at 1.84 so it is at least structurally placed. What gets me is target 1 and 2 both at 2.00, below the current price. Typo in the engine or deliberate scale-out logic gone weird?
Probably scale-out logic in the template. The HBAR piece had the same oddity yesterday, targets sitting under entry. Sloppy but consistent.
HBAR had it and now BGB, targets under entry twice in a week. at some point its the engine averaging the range and calling it targets
two different pieces printing the same targets under entry means its a template bug sable, not a strategy. someone email the editors instead of building a thesis around a typo
Nadia Kroll noticed the same thing, target 1 and 2 at 2.00 under a 2.02 entry. if that is scale-out logic it is still broken, nobody banks profit below where they bought
40% win rate and -20.6% over two years and im supposed to trust a BUY at 2.02? hard pass until it reclaims 2.07 with actual volume behind it
40% win rate is literally the norm for trend following, the winners just run longer than the losers. still not touching it under 2.07 either
-76% from the 8.49 high and people are deploying fresh money here. support at 1.85 is the line that matters
agree on 1.85, but resistance at 2.07 is basically right here. tight range, needs volume to break it
volume finally showed up overnight, OBV turned up too. if 2.07 gives way this becomes a completely different conversation
OBV turning up means nothing if the 2.07 break comes on thin volume again. watched BGB fakeout that level twice this year already
watched 2.07 reject twice myself, third attempt with OBV turning up is when i bother entering. until then its range noise
twice faked on thin volume, a third attempt with OBV turning up is a different setup. half size and add on the actual close
DCA 12 buys at -16.9% vs lump sum -42.8%, same story every time on these deep drawdown alts. BGB is up 23.9% over 3 months so the regime shift is real, but I would keep the 25% cash buffer they mention. Exchange tokens are leveraged bets on volume at the end of the day.
the 25 pct cash buffer take is underrated, BGB is basically a leveraged bet on bitget volume and one regulatory headline zeroes the whole thesis
stop at 1.90 tucked under the 50d at 1.84 with ADX 41, the structure makes sense even with the ugly backtest. small size and let it prove 2.07
The stop is placed fine, the sizing is the debate. 25% cash on something already -76% off 8.49 is trading like it can hurt you, because it can
sizing answer is pretty simple, something -76% off its 8.49 high moves violently both ways. quarter cash feels like the minimum buffer here
BGB up 23.9 percent over three months while the backtest window shows -20.6 says the signal is late to its own party. Reclaiming 2.07 is the only part that matters.
a late signal is the whole trend following tradeoff. you skip the knife, you also skip the first chunk of the recovery
