Binance Is Removing Four USDC Trading Pairs on Friday: What BREV, COOKIE, LA and QNT Holders Need to Know

Binance will remove four USDC spot trading pairs — BREV, COOKIE, LA and QNT — on September 18 at 03:00 UTC, but the tokens themselves are not being delisted from the exchange, and holders do not need to panic-sell.

The move, announced by Binance on September 16, is the latest in a long series of routine “market cleanup” operations by the world’s largest crypto exchange. In plain terms: a trading pair is one specific door to buy or sell a token — in this case, the door where you trade it against USDC. Binance is closing four of those doors while keeping others open, meaning the underlying altcoins stay listed through their other markets.

What Exactly Is Being Removed

The four pairs shutting down on Friday, September 18 at 03:00 UTC are:

  • BREV/USDC — the USDC market for BreederDao’s BREV token, which keeps its BREV/USDT pair alive on Binance
  • COOKIE/USDC — Cookie DAO’s COOKIE token, which also retains a COOKIE/USDT market and carries Binance’s Monitoring Tag, a label the exchange puts on assets under closer periodic review
  • LA/USDC — Lagrange’s LA token, still tradable through LA/USDT; Binance originally opened LA trading in July 2025 with USDT, USDC, BNB, FDUSD and TRY markets
  • QNT/USDC — Quant’s QNT, the enterprise-blockchain token, which remains available through its other Binance markets

Binance also warned that Spot Trading Bots tied to the four affected USDC pairs will terminate automatically at the same deadline. If you run automated bot strategies on those markets, now is the time to close or reconfigure them before Friday, otherwise the bots will simply stop in place.

Why Binance Does This — And Why It Matters

Binance said it periodically evaluates all listed spot pairs and may remove markets due to factors including weak liquidity and trading volume. The exchange did not give a token-specific reason for any of the four removals. Think of it like a grocery store pulling a slow-moving product line from one shelf while still stocking it elsewhere — it cuts clutter where demand is thin.

For context on how thin some of these markets are: data from CoinGecko cited in the announcement’s aftermath showed BREV trading near 0.0735 USD with roughly 3 million USD in global 24-hour volume, with Binance’s BREV/USDT pair among its more active markets alongside venues like Bitunix and OKX. That is the kind of low-activity profile that makes a secondary quote-currency pair redundant.

The subtext here is bigger than four minor markets. USDT remains the dominant quote currency on Binance, and the exchange has been steadily trimming its USDC-denominated pairs over the past year. Every removal concentrates more trading activity into USDT pairs — which subtly reinforces Tether’s grip on exchange liquidity even as USDC wins institutional adoption elsewhere.

What This Means For You

If you hold BREV, COOKIE, LA or QNT, the practical impact is small. You can still trade all four tokens on Binance through their remaining pairs, and withdrawals and deposits are unaffected. The main actions worth taking:

  • Close any Spot Trading Bot running on the four USDC pairs before 03:00 UTC on September 18
  • Move limit orders on the closing markets to the surviving USDT pairs, where liquidity will consolidate
  • Watch the Monitoring Tag on COOKIE — tokens carrying that label face closer scrutiny and occasional full delistings, so it is worth knowing the risk

The Bigger Picture for Altcoin Traders

Pair removals like this one tend to come in waves, and they matter as a signal. When an exchange prunes quote markets, it is effectively saying liquidity has fragmented too much across too many doors. For smaller altcoins, losing a USDC pair rarely moves the price on its own — but a cascade of pair removals across exchanges usually precedes deeper liquidity problems for the tokens involved.

The broader market backdrop remains tense. Bitcoin trades around 75,800 USD and Ethereum near 2,404 USD after the US Senate’s failed CLARITY Act vote triggered a broad selloff earlier this week, and altcoins generally move with amplified volatility in that environment. In thin markets, small order books mean bigger price swings — one more reason pair consolidation is worth paying attention to if you trade low-volume tokens.

The Verdict

This is housekeeping, not a crisis. Binance is closing four lightly used doors, not evicting four tenants. The signal value for investors is modest but real: exchange liquidity keeps concentrating around USDT pairs and top-tier tokens, while long-tail altcoin markets get quietly squeezed. If your portfolio leans heavily on low-volume tokens, treat episodes like this as a prompt to check where your assets actually trade — and how deep those markets really are.

The cryptocurrency market remains highly volatile. This article is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice.

  1. QNT losing its USDC door and nobody blinks because the USDT book does all the volume anyway. All four tokens still trade, the panic is misplaced

  2. COOKIE carrying a Monitoring Tag is the part people should read twice. Pair removal is routine, the tag is the real signal.

      1. same pattern on past tags, pair removal then a quiet delist a quarter later. cookie holders should be half out already imo

      2. same. tag alone i ignore, tag plus pairs getting pruned is usually the first domino. trimmed my COOKIE yesterday, dont regret it

        1. counterpoint on QNT though, its the one pair in this batch where the token actually has usage beyond speculation. door closing friday hurts USDC liquidity sure but most QNT flow was USDT side anyway

        1. half out already feels right with a monitoring tag attached. that pattern has ended in delist enough times that holding through it is a choice not a surprise

          1. half out on COOKIE feels extreme for a monitoring tag but i get it. watched ARPA sit tagged for a year and nothing happened, then LOKA got delisted in two months. coin flip

  3. COOKIE keeping the Monitoring Tag while losing its USDC pair is the detail worth watching here. That tag has a habit of eventually becoming a full delist.

    1. same read. monitoring tag plus pair removal ended in full delist twice in my history. trim COOKIE and LA into any liquidity while it is still there

  4. Remember to kill any spot bots on those four USDC pairs before Friday 03:00 UTC. Learned that the hard way on an earlier cleanup round when mine just froze mid strategy.

    1. Same, had a grid bot strand itself. QNT holders are fine since the other markets stay open, the real volume was always in USDT anyway.

      1. learned this on the last cleanup too, now i kill every bot the minute a pair notice drops. friday 03:00 utc is closer than people think

      2. how did yours freeze? mine kept firing into a book with zero liquidity left. genuinely cant tell if the bot or the cleanup cost me more

      3. USDT pairs keep running for all four anyway. BREV and COOKIE volume on USDC was basically nothing, this cleanup changes little for holders

        1. QNT volume on usdc was a rounding error forever. if your QNT thesis dies because one thin book closed you never had a thesis

  5. reminder that spot bots die at 03:00 utc friday whether you read the notice or not. had a grid on BREV lock up for a week last time i slept on one of these
