Cambria Bets on a Nation-Scale Economy With Genesis — but RSGP Still Has No Launch Date

Cambria founder Ben.zzz says the studio’s next step is nothing less than “the first nation-scale game economy.” Speaking at a pre-TGE AMA about the game’s shift to a single persistent world, the founder laid out a vision that swaps short competitive seasons for one MMORPG world that runs around the clock and never resets.

The new world is called Genesis, and it takes the place of Cambria’s seasonal Gold Rush format. Until now, the browser game has run in short seasons with prize pools funded by players themselves. Genesis is designed to run 24/7, with an economy Ben.zzz expects to be “worth millions of dollars.”

## The numbers behind the ambition

To argue that players have the appetite for a permanent economy, the founder pointed to the roughly 1.8 million USD that flowed into last season’s prize pool within just 10 days.

Recent seasons reinforce the point. During Season 2, players spent 1.3 million USD on Charters and Energy Orbs, and the team said about 1.52 million USD in ETH was ready to be paid out to more than 20,000 players. In its Season 3 results post, Cambria reported that players and player-run guilds spent 1.7 million USD on Charters and Energy Orbs over 10 days.

The current Genesis event has already passed 41 million USD in total volume — though Cambria notes that figure counts funds again each time players re-wager them. The studio has earned 788,642 USD from the event, and 4 million USD has been paid out in “uncut gems” jackpots. Dungeon Fishing accounts for 35.9 million USD of the volume, or 87 percent, while the original Dungeons mode makes up another 5.1 million USD. Dungeon keys cost 0.10 USD each and are bought with USDC.

## What changes in a persistent world

According to the studio, Genesis will feature persistent assets, guild treasuries, competition over resources and what the team calls “high stakes war games.” Players will be able to buy individual buildings across five major cities and collect taxes on them. So-called “island barons” will be able to combine resources to lower transport fees and push back against city monopolies — an explicit nod to the political economy that emerges when assets stop resetting.

Ben.zzz called the permanent economy “one of the most challenging things I’ve had to design yet,” and warned that players taking part would face “upfront risk.” His closing message was blunt: “None of this will be a free lunch.”

## A restricted launch

Not everyone will get into Genesis right away. In a Sept. 21 post on X, Ben.zzz said the world will first admit “a supply-capped group of initial citizens,” with more players welcomed in later waves. That is a deliberately smaller opening than Cambria’s seasonal servers, which drew between 3,000 and 4,000 concurrent players.

## The token question

The new Cambria Foundation has introduced RSGP — short for Real Stakes Game Play — and says the token will “form the core of ecosystem consensus mechanisms” in the Genesis economy. But the foundation has not disclosed the token’s supply, distribution plan, chain, valuation or TGE date.

Past Cambria players had until Sept. 29 at 11 p.m. ET to accept a Genesis Event Opt-In Agreement through the game’s lobby site. The foundation says it will share more about RSGP before the Genesis Event itself.

The token timeline has already slipped once. Cambria held its public presale on March 2-4, 2026, aiming to raise 1 million USD with a 3 million USD cap at a 30 million USD fully diluted valuation, with tokens fully unlocked. At the time, the team estimated June 2026 for both the TGE and the mainnet launch. That date has now passed with no launch.

## One more update before the testnet

Version 0.6 launched on Sept. 28, adding an early-access Pit Fights mode and Charm Cards alongside a rebuilt client. According to the studio, it is the last update before the Genesis Testnet.

For a game that has already moved tens of millions of dollars through its event economy, the bet is that a world which never resets can hold that attention — and that money — for good. Until RSGP gets a launch date and the first citizens walk in, “nation-scale” remains a promise, not a proven economy.

1.8M into a seasonal prize pool is real demand, but a 24/7 world that never resets is a different beast entirely. economy sims die without sinks

    1. Gold Rush worked because seasons created urgency. Genesis bets people stick around without a reset. Big if true, risky if not.

    2. @grindset_goblin exactly, sinks are everything. buildings with tax collection is a good start, but a never-reset world also needs continuous new player inflow or the whole thing slowly bleeds to the top guilds

  2. 1.8m usd into a prize pool in 10 days is wild for a browser game. real question is whether that spending survives once there is no season reset to farm anymore

    1. no launch date on RSGP is the actual story here. they expect a permanent 24/7 world running before the token even exists, feels backwards

  3. presale was march and still no RSGP date. my funds are basically a genesis event of their own at this point lol

    1. @wen_rsgp permanent world before the token actually makes sense from one angle. You want the economy proven stable before you bolt a tradable asset onto it. But yes, presale buyers since march have every right to be annoyed.

  4. A nation-scale economy is a bold pitch from a studio with two seasons of data. Then again, 1.7 million USD spent on Charters and Orbs in Season 3 suggests the demand is real.

  5. the 41M volume number counting re-wagered funds each time is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that pitch. real net inflow is probably a fraction of it, still decent but not nation-scale
