Trend-following methodology: 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter + ADX regime gate

A 20% win rate across 10 trades and a -5% return while buy and hold did 28.3%. The backtest itself is the argument against this system and they still call it HOLD.
tbf the death cross exit is what keeps the max drawdown at 39.8% instead of worse. you trade returns for survivability, thats the whole point of trend following
the 39.8% drawdown cap is the only reason this system is survivable at all. 20% win rate stings but one JUP runner from 0.32 changes the whole math
survivability is underrated until you reread the -27.9 percent drawdown in the buy and hold column. both paths hurt, one hurts slower
Also the RSI 82 sell trigger means it rode the top all the way down twice. classic trend following, the wins feel accidental until they dont
trend following always looks dumb next to buy and hold until the -27.9% drawdown hits and youre the one still standing. 10 trades is nothing statistically anyway
Fair point but the comparison window matters. The 28.3% for buy and hold includes the run to 0.44. The system would look very different if the backtest started at the top instead.
resistance at 0.37 is only ~15% up from 0.32, risk reward aint terrible if that ADX picks up past 16
0.37 resistance with ADX still under 16 is a trap btw, no trend strength means it chops sideways before anything else. wait for the ADX turn
same, got chopped to bits trading JUP through that 0.37 zone last month. if ADX is under 16 im not touching it, sideways is where stops go to die
same scar. jup under ADX 20 is just a spread harvesting machine for the exchange
10 trades is a rounding error, youd need 50+ before that win rate means anything. also JUP at 0.32 after a 0.44 high is exactly when trend systems look worst right before they catch the next leg
hold call at 0.32 with a 39.8 percent max drawdown already banked, i would size this like a lottery ticket rather than a 30k deployment
