Gods Unchained’s Biggest Expansion of the Year Lands Oct. 13 — With a New 249.99 USD Pack Tier and No Supply Cap

Gods Unchained is launching Reckoning on Oct. 13, its largest expansion of 2026 — 87 new packable cards, a brand-new top pack tier priced at 249.99 USD, and, for the first time in recent sets, no announced supply cap.

The trading card game built on Ethereum announced the date in a post on X, with the full details laid out in a collector’s guide on the official Gods Unchained blog. For players and collectors, Reckoning is not just another card set — it is a real-money marketplace event, because every pack and every card inside is an NFT, a digital item you truly own and can sell to other players.

The Hook: 87 Cards, Four Ways to Buy

Think of it like a sports card release: sealed packs go on sale, and what is inside ranges from commons to rare autographs. Reckoning splits its 87 new cards evenly across the game’s six domains — Death, Deception, Light, Magic, Nature and War each get 12, with the remaining 15 Neutral. The rarity breakdown is 27 Commons, 21 Rares, 21 Epics and 18 Legendaries.

The notable twist: no Mythics at all. Last October’s mini expansion, Age of Ascent, shipped 24 cards with six Mythic Variants — each a one-of-a-kind Legendary with its own art. Reckoning takes the opposite approach, with 12 alternate-art Legendary variants, six returning Squeaklings promo cards, and the first Legendary Promo that can be pulled from every pack tier.

The Pack Economy: What Each Tier Costs

  • Booster — 1.99 USD — six cards, weighted toward Commons
  • Premium — 19.99 USD — only Rares or better, guaranteed one Epic and one Legendary
  • Shiny — 199.99 USD — nothing below Epic
  • Mega Shiny — 249.99 USD — new top tier: everything a Shiny pack has, plus a guaranteed high-shine Legendary

Packs are on sale for four weeks, from Oct. 13 to Nov. 10. Recent sets stopped at three tiers, so Mega Shiny is a genuine escalation — a nearly 250 USD sealed product aimed squarely at high-end collectors. Each of the 12 alternate-art Legendary variants is locked to certain pack types: Booster packs can contain Harald Until Death, Rear Admiral Thibbs and Divya No Longer; Premium packs hold The Bishop and The Swollen Terror; Shiny packs carry Vesper Relentless Adjudicator, The Amorphous Mass and Ella Combat Painter. The Mega Shiny exclusive variant is What Glorious Fortune.

The Squeaklings promo line also returns — the guide describes the six cards as “one per kid, appearing in Premium, Shiny, and Mega Shiny packs through the rest of 2026.” And Divine Tithings stays in place: players can burn existing cards for up to 35 percent off a single pack purchase, which gives old collections a floor value of sorts — your spare cards are literally worth discount currency.

Why No Supply Cap Matters

Here is the detail collectors should not skip: the Reckoning guide gives no supply cap for any tier. That breaks from recent precedent. The Waking Plague, a 46-card set released June 16, capped supply at 20,000 Regular packs, 1,250 Premium packs and 400 Shiny packs. Capped supply is what made those packs scarce — and scarcity is what supports resale value.

An uncapped sale works differently. It maximizes revenue during the four-week window and lets anyone who wants a pack get one, but it removes the guaranteed-rarity argument that collectors lean on. If demand is soft, that is fine. If demand is huge, the secondary market for sealed packs may never heat up the way capped sets did. Players do have one lever the guide is quick to highlight: “Reckoning packs are NFTs you can hold, trade, or open whenever you’re ready.” Holding sealed packs instead of ripping them open is a classic scarcity play — the bet being that fewer sealed packs survive over time.

The Track Record

Reckoning is the third expansion of 2026. Roots of Ruin arrived first on Feb. 17 with 44 cards and introduced the Everborn tribe, followed by The Waking Plague in June. The studio has also made something of a habit of October releases: Tides of Fate shipped in October 2023, Tower of Dread on Oct. 10, 2024, and Age of Ascent on Oct. 21, 2025. In its March 2026 newsletter, the team said design work on the next expansion was already locked and had moved into system testing and balancing ahead of schedule — which suggests Reckoning is arriving on a deliberate cadence rather than a rushed one.

What It Means for Players and Investors

If you play Gods Unchained, the practical takeaway is timing: Divine Tithings means your burned cards can subsidize new packs, and the four-week window means the cheapest entry is early. If you are a collector rather than a player, the calculus is about the missing cap — this set rewards conviction in the game’s player base, not artificial scarcity.

The GODS token, which powers the game’s economy, was trading around three cents in recent data from eGamers.io, down roughly 2 percent on the day — a reminder that in-game economies and token prices do not always move together. For context, the broader crypto market backdrop on Oct. 2 saw BTC near 85,196 USD and ETH near 2,690 USD on Binance.

The Bottom Line

Reckoning is Gods Unchained betting big on volume: the largest set of the year, a new premium tier at the top, and no ceiling on how many packs can be sold. For a game whose packs are tradeable digital assets, that is a real shift in strategy — and one collectors will judge on the resale market long after Nov. 10.

  1. divine tithings burning spares for 35% off is still the most underrated mechanic. my bulk rares finally have a job again

  2. a 249.99 usd pack tier with no supply cap is wild when the GU playerbase is a shadow of 2021. who exactly is the whale tier for here

    1. The same collectors who never stopped buying mythic boxes, that is who. GU whales are a small group but they spend like it is still bull market

    1. No cap plus 87 new cards is a supply flood. Great if you play the game, rough if you wanted sealed packs to appreciate.

  3. no mythics in the whole 100+ card set is the actual headline. changes pack EV math completely compared to Age of Ascension

  4. first legendary promo pullable from every tier is a nice touch. gives the 1.99 booster crowd a reason to care too
