Trend-following methodology: 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter + ADX regime gate
Data via Yahoo Finance / CoinGecko · Not financial advice. For educational purposes only.
Entry quality says Extended with R:R 0.73 and this still gets labeled HIGH conviction. The stop at 7.44 is fine, but buying 8.99 right at resistance is a choice.
buying right at 8.99 with rsi 72 is a choice, but the stop at 7.44 keeps the damage bounded at least
BUY signal with RSI at 72.6, right under resistance at 8.99. bold strategy entering here, hope the 50d holds
buy signal on something 83.9% down from the high, bold. but ADX 33.5 with vol 1.84x on an up day is a real trend, not chop
^ the death cross at 8.99 is just the ghost of the slide from 55.70. price back above the 50d and 200d is what matters now
The backtest turned 15,000 into 8,595 and this is still labeled HIGH conviction? I like the trend logic but that minus 42.7% needs a disclaimer in the headline
63 trades at a 40% win rate is the real kicker, you pay fees to lose slowly lol
fees to lose slowly is exactly it lol. with R:R 0.73 you need way better than 40% winners just to break even before costs
welcome to trend following, you eat small losses waiting for the one runner. ADX 33.5 says the uptrend is real at least
Agreed on the -42.7% backtest point. 63 trades at a 40% win rate is a lot of churn to end up with 8,595 from 15,000. Half size is the only sane read here.
the -42.7% backtest IS the disclaimer, its just buried in the body instead of the header. half size math checks out to me
the disclaimer should be the headline honestly. half size at least respects the minus 42.7%
9 bull factors vs 2 bear and the death cross is one of the bears. That lagging cross is the only reason Im doing half of the 15k plan and not the full deployment.
half size is fair but the OBV accumulation with vol ratio 1.59 is what sold me. Took the upper band breakout myself
vol ratio 1.59 into RSI 72.6 can be exhaustion volume too, seen that movie at resistance before
exactly, vol 1.59 into rsi 72 at 8.99 resistance is textbook exhaustion until proven otherwise. that 7.44 stop is doing a lot of load bearing
exhaustion until proven otherwise, agreed. but the upper band entry exists so you buy the break of exhaustion, not the top of it. half size covers the rest
the 7.44 stop is 17% below entry, that aint damage bounded that is a slow bleed with extra steps lol
84% under water from the 55.70 high and they still call it HIGH conviction. I get the trend argument, but entry quality Extended with R:R 0.73 means you are paying full price for a maybe.
half size and an upper band entry was the compromise but yeah, R:R 0.73 at 8.99 resistance is paying full retail. watching the 7.44 stop either way
backtest turned 15k into 8,595 and its still labeled high conviction. the OBV story is nice, the equity curve already told the truth
8.99 is also where the death cross sits per the article. entering exactly at the lagging average is paying for the worst seat in the theater, that 7.44 stop better hold
Death cross entries worked for me exactly once in 2019 and I have been chasing that feeling since. The 7.44 stop does make it survivable though.
entry at 8.99 after the run off the lows means you missed the easy part. waiting for a retest of the 50d personally, death crosses dont unwind in a week
