Azuki’s trading card game is leveling up fast. Fractured Domains, the second set in the Azuki TCG lineup from Azuki Labs, arrives in stores across North America, Latin America and Europe on Nov. 20 — and it is bringing the game’s first dual-element Leader along for the ride.
A bigger set with a first
Fractured Domains (set code AZK-02) contains 163 cards, 15 more than Gates Awakened, the 148-card set the game launched with in June. The complete breakdown comes from a distributor listing for the booster display: four Gates, five Leaders, one IKZ card and one IKZ Token, plus 60 Commons, 30 Uncommons, 27 Rares and 11 Super Rares. The chase pool includes 20 regular Alternate Arts, one Color Variant and three Portrait Rares — and Azuki has already teased an Indra Portrait Rare, a card that will likely dominate pull discussions come launch weekend.
The headline mechanic is The Sisters, the game’s first Leader that spans more than one element. A water-and-lightning card, The Sisters combines board control with weapon play and can be paired with any lightning or water Gate. The community saw the reveal coming weeks in advance: roughly three weeks earlier, the official Azuki TCG account posted “Something new, coming in set 2…” and fans immediately guessed a deck built around the sisters Rei, who fights as Raizan, and Shao.
Products and pricing
The 24-pack booster display carries an MSRP of 119.99 USD. Four Starter Decks priced at 12.99 USD each cover Lightning, Water, Earth and Fire, and each is a ready-to-play, 63-card deck with eight foils — one Leader, one Gate, 50 main deck cards and 10 IKZ resource cards, plus a token card, rule sheet, marker sheet and playmat. The Relic Hunter Box, at 39.99 USD, includes one exclusive promo, six booster packs and a promo pack containing one of four special IKZ card variants. Everything ships Nov. 20.
Looking further ahead, a 1st Anniversary Premium Collection lands Jan. 15, 2027 at 129.99 USD, packing eight exclusive alternate-art cards, a half-size neoprene playmat, a deck box and a collection box — a signal Azuki expects collectors to still be hungry more than a year after launch.
From anime NFTs to game-store shelves
The trajectory is remarkable for a project that began as an NFT collection. Gates Awakened reached local game stores on June 26 with four Starter Decks centered on Raizan, Shao, Zero and Bobu. Each pack holds 12 cards and each booster box 24 packs — a structure Fractured Domains keeps intact. The game has even had its first ban: Rushfire Gate was removed from official Azuki TCG events starting Aug. 18, an early sign of a competitive scene that takes balance seriously.
Distribution is scaling alongside the card count. Azuki is expanding into Europe with publishing partner Cube Golem, and Gates Awakened will be sold at SPIEL Essen — the world’s largest board game fair, running Oct. 22-25 — before the second set launches in the region. The deliberate sequencing gives European retailers a taste of set one before set two lands, and puts Azuki on the same convention floor as the giants of the tabletop industry.
Azuki’s official Fractured Domains announcement was characteristically cryptic, leaving out pricing and card count entirely. The main account posted a single line: “On November 20, you will wield the power of two domains…”
The NFT brand playbook, in cardboard
For the broader NFT ecosystem, Azuki TCG has become one of the clearest examples of an NFT-native brand converting community goodwill into physical retail presence. Where most 2021-era profile-picture projects chased metaverse real estate, Azuki invested in anime storytelling, physical stores in Las Vegas and Tokyo, and now a tabletop game with conventional MSRP pricing, distributor listings and regional publishing partners.
The dual-element Leader also hints at where the design is heading. Crossing element lines mid-match opens deck-building space that single-element Leaders constrain, and with new gameplay promised across all four elements, set two is effectively the moment Azuki TCG stops being a curiosity for NFT holders and starts being judged purely as a card game — against Pokemon, One Piece and Magic on the shelf beside it.
That is the harder test, and the one that matters. Three chase cards and a water-and-lightning Leader will get collectors through the door on Nov. 20. Whether they stay depends on whether the game under the branding is good enough to earn a second booster box — a question the original NFT community never had to answer, and one Azuki Labs now gets to prove on game-store tables across three continents.
an Indra portrait rare in the chase pool means sealed product gets vacuumed day one. the 119.99 msrp means nothing on launch weekend
119.99 msrp and my local shop will list displays at 160 day one, seen it with gates awakened already
Same story as Gates Awakened in June. My local shop capped displays at two per person and still sold out by Friday.
my shop skipped caps in june and one guy walked out with 12 displays of gates awakened. nov 20 gets worse with an indra portrait rare in the pool
same thing happened with gates awakened in june, displays on ebay at 2x within hours. shops need firm preorder caps or resellers eat the whole allocation
The Sisters pairing with any water or lightning gate is such flexible deck building. Rei fighting as Raizan is the cool part of the lore
the sisters being water plus lightning means gate cards that were dead picks in AZK-01 suddenly matter. day one brewers are gonna eat well
a water AND lightning leader finally. the sisters pairing with either gate type is gonna break deckbuilding wide open at release
Agreed but 11 super rares in a 163 card set is brutal pull rates. Good luck to everyone chasing the Indra portrait rare, that card will fund singles sellers for months
11 supers across 163 cards is about one per display if pull rates hold. the singles market for that Indra is gonna be unhinged by december
11 super rares plus 3 portrait rares, the chase pool is genuinely deep for a second set. sealed gambling at its finest
one super per display if pull rates hold, sealed at 119.99 is still the cheapest lottery ticket in the whole set tbh
physical tcg from an nft brand sitting in actual stores across three regions is still wild to me. gates awakened must have moved decent units for azk-02 to happen this fast
water plus lightning pairing with either gate type is two archetypes in one card slot. azuki labs knew exactly what they were doing with the sisters
