MNT -75% from the 2.70 high and still a BUY because trend flipped up. the whole trend following debate on one page
and the 2y backtest beat buy & hold, +16.1% vs +7.0%, with half the pain. trend logic works on L2s too apparently
^ but 23 trades at 52% win rate is heavy churn, fees and slippage eat into that +16.1% on a 10k book
quick math, 23 round trips on a 10k book is maybe 60 to 80 bucks in fees with limit orders. the 9 point edge over buy and hold survives the churn fine
60 to 80 bucks in fees for 9 points of edge on a 10k book, yes. people complaining about churn never priced what the 0.54 break does to the hold crew
23 trades over 2 years is not the churn you think it is, fees barely register. the drawdown gap vs holding is the actual win in that table
23 trades in two years is buy and hold with extra steps. the drawdown gap is the only number in that table doing real work
extra steps that saved 9 points and half the drawdown, thats the trade. 23 signals over 2y is patience, hold and hope is not a strategy either
extra steps that cut the drawdown in half is the entire product. you rent the bounces and skip the 0.54 break, hold and hope buys the full round trip down
Half the pain is underselling it. The 25 percent cash buffer sits idle between the 23 entries, so the real gap vs holding is wider than the +16.1 vs +7.0 line shows.
a yield focused book putting 25% into one L2 token is wild, but 0.54 support is decent insurance i guess
2 tranches with a 25% cash buffer, hardly degen. the 0.63 stop is tight though, ATR of 2.49% daily will hunt it
The hunt already happened. my 0.64 stop got clipped in late September before the rip to 0.70. 0.58 under support is safer
same experience, 0.63 got wicked out then i watched the 0.70 test without me. wide stop to 0.58 and smaller size is the only way to hold a 2.49% ATR name
the 2.49% ATR hunt is relentless. i just take the first tranche at market and keep the rest for a flush under 0.54, beats getting wicked at 0.63 with everyone else
MACD bear cross with HIGH conviction is a bold combo. resistance at 0.70 is close enough that a 25% position feels aggressive, half size makes more sense
half size into the 0.70 test is the move. first real resistance since the September flush and half this thread wants full exposure at 0.67
HIGH conviction flag with a MACD bear cross in the same table is the engine arguing with itself. 0.54 support holding is the only reason id still take the first tranche
0.54 holds because the shelf under it never broke either. first tranche at market, rest only on a real flush, signal flip or not
lmao the engine arguing with itself is exactly it. trend says buy, momentum says wait. i just stagger entries so neither side has to be right on day one
23 trades over 2 years and it still beat hold by 9 points with MNT down 75 percent from 2.70. trend systems earn their keep exactly in setups like this
9 points of outperformance on only 23 trades is solid efficiency per signal. my worry with trend systems is you still sit through the full drawdown between entries, and MNT already showed how ugly that gets below 0.54
sitting through it is the deal but the table shows half the pain, +16.1% vs +7.0% with the drawdown gap doing the heavy lifting. id still keep the 25% cash buffer tho, one ADX print at 26.9 doesnt cancel a MACD bear cross
9 points over two years is fine until one wick below 0.54 rewrites the whole first tranche. the shelf holding is the entire thesis
if 0.54 goes the plan already told you what to do, exit. people treat invalidation levels as optional when thats the only part of the engine that protects the book
the 0.70 retest with half size is the calm take here. MACD bear cross under a HIGH conviction flag means the engine itself is hedging, tranche accordingly
down 75 from 2.70 and the system still found 23 trades worth taking, most of them small. thats the whole pitch of trend following on a downtrend, you rent the bounces
you rent the bounces but the article sizes the first tranche at market on a 0.67 print. half the thread wants the 0.70 retest instead, tranche math matters more than signal count here
adx 26.9 with a macd bear cross is a trend that just woke up, not one dying. first tranche small, add above 0.70, and a flush under 0.54 is your add not your exit
renting the bounces only works because the stop discipline is real. the moment you average down instead of exiting on the flip, the 23 trade story becomes the hold story with worse fees
