Trend-following methodology: 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter + ADX regime gate
Data via Yahoo Finance / CoinGecko · Not financial advice. For educational purposes only.
40% win rate across 53 trades and buy and hold only lost 0.7% while the strategy bled 30%. that table alone should make anyone pause before deploying 30k
kinda the deal with trend following tho, you eat small losses to dodge the big one. that 30.7% max DD is still ugly
53 trades in 24 months is roughly one every two weeks on a 1.4% ATR asset. fees and spread ate that return alive
a trade every two weeks on 1.4% daily range, the spread alone is a tax. system down 30% while holding loses 0.7% says everything
one trade every two weeks and the spread still ate 30%. strongest anti churn argument ive read all week
anti churn case in one line. the backtest is basically a fee receipt with a verdict attached
that table alone should end the debate. running a 53 trade trend system against a token with a buyback floor underneath is paying rent on a position you never needed
the burn is quarterly and mechanical, float shrinks whether the chart cares or not. shorting a sink is a bold system output
burns scale with exchange revenue too. the sink gets deeper in exactly the quarters shorts want relief
53 trades in 2 years for a -30% return while holding did -0.7%. that ADX of 47.6 is just churning you to death
40% win rate on an exchange token that barely moves 1.4% a day. feels like the system is trading noise
the adx 47.6 point is underrated. trend looks obvious in hindsight, live you eat six fakeouts before the real move. -30% for that privilege is brutal
support at 8.72, stop at 8.62, target 2 at 10.00. thats a 12.7% target on a 2.9% risk, actually not terrible IF it reclaims the 50d at 9.14
2.9% risk for 12.7% reward looks fine on paper, but an 8.62 stop sits inside the noise band on something this quiet
the 10.00 target needs the 50d reclaim at 9.14 first. without that its just hope with a stop attached.
LEO barely moves, lump sum lost 3.9% over a full year. exchange tokens at these levels arent a trade, theyre a parking spot
LEO at 8.88 with a 52w high of 10.39, i remember grabbing some under 6 during the low. boring hold but it pays to be boring sometimes
under 6 was the 2024 flush right? hold from there and 8.88 is a 45% gain while everyone else got chopped sideways
what stands out is 53 trades in 24 months producing a minus 30 while LEO itself just sits there. the verdict is on the system, not the token
LEO is a buyback sink, of course it barely moves. comparing it to SOL up 56% over a year is a category error
The category error runs both ways though. Running a trend system on something that moves 1.4 percent a day is how you turn a flat hold into a 30 percent loss.
sell signal on an exchange token with a buyback engine underneath. the system fights the float shrink the whole way down
exactly what Fiona said, every sell signal here fights constant buyback pressure. shorting the token bitfinex keeps burning is just paying rent
sell verdict at 8.88 with the 52w high at 10.39. system is shorting 15 percent off the top of a buyback token, brave stuff
stop at 8.62 sits ten cents below the 8.72 support, thats a wick-out on a normal tuesday. the SELL call is directionally fine but the plan pretends the levels have more room than they do
