Trend-following methodology: 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter + ADX regime gate
Data via Yahoo Finance / CoinGecko · Not financial advice. For educational purposes only.
8 bull factors, 1 bear factor, verdict still WAIT. trend following in a nutshell lol
^ and a 0.7% max drawdown, truly nail biting stuff. honestly some of us just park cash here for the yield and touch grass
8 bull factors on a pegged token is the funniest part. half of them are just measuring whether the peg still exists
Eight bull factors and a WAIT is the most honest verdict trend following has ever produced. The system knows it has nothing to work with here.
The RSI at 53.4 with a golden cross looks fine, but that MACD bear flag matters this close to the 52w high of 1.01. Not much upside left on a dollar-pegged asset anyway.
vol ratio 2.41 is the detail people are skipping imo. accumulation on a stablecoin means real demand, waiting a week costs nothing
accumulation on BFUSD is just people parking yield, not a bullish tell. agree with the wait though, macd red this close to 1.01 caps the upside anyway
2.41 vol ratio on a dollar token is arb bots rebalancing, not accumulation with conviction. agree the waiting costs nothing tho
A 15k deployment plan for an asset with 0.1% daily ATR. the most exciting scenario here is the peg wobbles 30 bips and everyone panics for an afternoon
the 52w high being 1.01 is genuinely funny. a whole year of price discovery between 0.99 and 1.01
40 trades on a token pinned at 1.00 and a 2% win rate is the funniest backtest i have ever seen. the system is fighting a stablecoin and losing
lmao the system fighting a stablecoin and losing is exactly it. a -0.2% stop loss against 0.1% daily drift is just donating spread to the exchange
donating spread is exactly it. widen the stop to a full percent and half those 40 trades resolve as noise instead of stop outs
the real stat is that 40 trades happened at all. RSI and macd gates on a 1.00 peg should fire zero entries, someone let the crossover logic off its leash
40 trades on a peg means the entry gates fired on depeg wobbles of a few bips. someone tuned the system on ETH data and never sanity checked a dollar token
even better, buy and hold beat the strategy +0.1% to -0.3%. the algorithm paid 40 rounds of fees to lose to a peg
40 round trips of fees to lose to a dollar peg, whoever tuned those entry gates owes the backtest an apology lol
Finally a WAIT signal instead of forced conviction. BFUSD did +0.1% while SOL did +27% this quarter, parking 25% of a portfolio here needs a better reason than RSI at 53
the comparison table is brutal yeah. ETH +39.9% over 3 months while this thing printed +0.1% four quarters in a row
parking 25% in BFUSD for yield while SOL ran 27% is a choice. the writeup should have led with opportunity cost, not golden crosses on a peg
the 2% win rate is just spread noise on a pegged asset lol, stop loss at -0.2% means every trade is basically a coin flip against fees
ADX at 11.6 is the detail everyone skipped. thats a flat market on paper, trend following has literally nothing to chew on here
adx 11.6 and the backtest still logged 40 trades. a flat market and the entry gates fired 40 times, the verdict is fine, the gate tuning is the bug
exactly, ADX 11.6 should be an entry veto, not a footnote. the trend filter needs a floor before this system touches anything pegged
vol ratio 2.41 spun as accumulation when its just market makers rebalancing around the peg… some signals arent signals
