Trend-following methodology: 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter + ADX regime gate
Data via Yahoo Finance / CoinGecko · Not financial advice. For educational purposes only.
LTC at $66.99 with a golden cross and ADX over 50, been a while since one of these setups looked this clean. still 54% under the $146 high though
clean until you remember the one bear factor is far below high. 9 vs 1 is a generous read imo
bought the last LTC top so forgive me for waiting on a retest of the 50d before deploying the whole 30k
66.99 with a golden cross and 54 percent off the high is the definition of a mid trend entry. the DCA plan carries it anyway
vol ratio 2.2 on a buy signal is the part i like most. when volume confirms the cross it tends to be real
vol ratio 2.2 confirming the cross is the only reason id trust a golden cross on LTC at all. half of them die right at rsi 64
74.91 resistance with RSI already at 64.5, decent chunk of the move is done. nibbling here, not deploying the full 30k
ADX at 50.9 is a monster reading for LTC. trends that strong dont come around often, deploy signal makes total sense to me
adx 50.9 is honestly the scariest number on the page. trends that vertical usually mean the easy money is already in. id want a retest of the 48.54 support before going big
48.54 is a 27% drawdown away tho. if ADX 50.9 holds you never get that retest and that is the real cost of waiting
waiting for 48.54 means sitting through a 27 percent drop that may never come. ADX 50.9 regimes punish patience more than fomo
the retest crowd keeps ignoring that ADX over 50 regimes rarely give you the clean entry. you either pay the spread or miss it
27% below to catch the retest is the exact trap. if the cross validates you pay 74 entry instead of 67, the spread is the insurance premium
Sure, the trend is real. But the backtest table shows the strategy lost 21.5% while plain buy and hold only lost 12%. A 46% win rate across 71 trades is not a system I would trust with 30k.
fair point on the backtest, but the DCA table right below it has 12 buys at +11.4% beating lump sum by 13 points. the signal is a filter, not the whole plan
Fair criticism, but the signal only catches the golden cross. The DCA plan is what makes the money here, 12 buys at +11.4% carried the whole table.
the 21.5 vs 12 drawdown gap is fair criticism but the signal also kept you flat through the 146 to 67 slide. ADX 50.9 regimes are exactly when that whipsaw cost gets paid back
46% win rate is noise when the payoff ratio is 2:1, that combination prints. the -21.5 backtest header is the fairer jab and you had it right there
the 21.5 vs 12 comparison ignores that buy and hold rode the drawdown the entire way down. variance is the real cost being priced there
buying LTC at 67 when it was 146 a year ago feels terrible ngl. but golden cross plus that 3 month +47% chart is hard to ignore
either the trend carries to 74.91 or the 48.54 retest happens. LTC never does half measures on ADX readings over 50
74.91 feels aggressive until you remember LTC went 67 to 146 last cycle. adx over 50 trends dont die on hopium, they die on volume divergence
golden cross at 67 with vol ratio 2.2 is fine but the 12 staged buys is the whole edge. LTC whipsaws more than it trends
vol ratio 2.2 on the cross plus the 12 staged buys is the actual trade. the signal is just the starting gun
12 staged buys is the actual strategy here, the golden cross is just the starting gun. smart way to trade a 46% win rate without bleeding out
