0 bull vs 8 bear factors, brutal read on PAXG. Funny part is the backtest still lost to buy and hold by 5 points. Chopping sideways through a gold rally will do that.
42% win rate across 36 trades and it still printed 19.3%, the winners must have been massive. But for a gold token sitting 25% off highs I would stay flat too.
8 bear factors on something with actual metal behind it and the backtest STILL loses to buy and hold. sometimes the honest play is just flat, like the scan says
kjellberg_ the backtest lagging buy and hold by 5 points is exactly why I treat PAXG as a hedge leg, never a trading vehicle. 36 trades in 2 years for 42% wins is a lot of churn for gold.
RSI 38 below both moving averages, but the 1.42% daily ATR is the real dealbreaker for me. PAXG barely moves, capital works harder basically anywhere else.
gildedrat_ hard agree on the ATR point. 1.42% a day sounds tame until you remember SOL did +68% in a year. Opportunity cost is the whole thesis here.
PAXG lagging gold by that much is less about charts and more about redemption friction anxiety. SELL scan lands right but the reason matters for when it flips
25% off highs during a gold rally is a brutal tell. staying flat feels like the only move that doesnt require predicting when the depeg fears fade
Stop at 4068 with support at 4123 is odd placement, you would get wicked out before the actual level breaks. If Stage 4 holds I would wait for a reclaim of 4385 first.
the 4385 reclaim wait is right. shorting with a stop at 4068 sitting above support is just donating spread to market makers
Net short gold during a structural gold bull and the backtest still trails buy and hold by 5 points. That gap tells the whole story on sideways chop.
