  1. 6x off the january low and still a HOLD with low conviction, respect for not forcing a buy signal. that ADX at 10.5 says trend is dead sideways

  2. the backtest losing 6.7 percent while buy and hold prints 40 tells you the edge is not the strategy, it is the sizing discipline

    1. Gus, drawdown math says a fall from 31.98 to 23.14 is closer to 28%, but I agree the 200d MA at 16.81 is doing a lot of work here. Watching 22.06 support.

      1. good catch on the drawdown math. 28% from the high changes the whole risk framing, authors should sanity check those numbers

  3. ADX at 10.5 with price below the 50d says everything about this one. The 507% 1-year number looks great until you realize most of that move already happened, and the backtest losing 6.7% while buy & hold made 40% confirms there’s no trend to follow right now. WAIT is the honest call.

    1. @marten_vwt Exactly. I hold a small VVV bag and even I wouldn’t add here. RSI 45 sitting under the 50d (25.74) with resistance way up at 30 — the risk/reward on a fresh entry just isn’t there. Better to wait for either a reclaim of the 50d or a retest of support at 22.

      1. waiting under the 50d with ADX that low is just donating time value. either it reclaims 25.74 or the 200d does the heavy lifting

        1. time value argument only works if theres carry. a flat token with no yield costs nothing but opportunity, and ADX 10.5 chop is exactly when forced trades bleed

  4. Interesting that DCA with 12 buys beat lump sum here (15.5k vs 14k). In a bottoming stage (Stage 1) that’s usually how it plays out — chop punishes full deployment. The 25% position sizing with a stop at 20.95 is sensible if you must enter, but honestly the tranche-2 trigger is what matters most.

  5. the interesting signal is dca beating lump sum by 1.5k. in stage 1 chop thats structural, not luck. anyone adding full size here is paying for the 507 percent that already happened
