Trend-following methodology: 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter + ADX regime gate
Data via Yahoo Finance / CoinGecko · Not financial advice. For educational purposes only.
XDC holding above the 50d and 200d with ADX at 44 is a real trend, but the backtest only made 2.2% over two years. Barely worth the effort.
fair, still beats buy and hold which did -54.4% in the same window. 42% win rate works if you actually respect the stop at 0.03
42% win rate across two whole years for 2.2% total. after fees and slippage that is a rounding error. but yes, still beats the -54% the buy and hold crowd ate
2.2% is the full backtest window though. the stage 2 filter skips the bleed months, that is where a trend system on a headline coin actually earns its keep
stage 2 skipping the bleed months sounds great until you count how many false starts cost a tranche each. the 0.03 stop on a coin that wicks for fun is doing a lot of heavy lifting here
2.2% over two years and people still debating the win rate lol. only thing that matters is whether real trade finance volume keeps landing on chain or stays on the demo net
hard agree on the demo net point. if letters of credit keep settling on mainnet the 0.16 high is back in play, if not this just chops between 0.03 and 0.05 again
until letters of credit actually settle on mainnet instead of the demo net, ADX 44 is just a headline-coin trend. watched this same signal print at 0.12 and fade for months
@Inga Skaar the demo net point is the whole thesis. one quarter of published letter of credit volume actually settling on mainnet and 0.04 becomes a rounding error
@snorre_ one quarter of real LC volume on mainnet and the 0.04 target looks lazy low. thats the asymmetry worth holding a tranche for
chopping between 0.03 and 0.05 forever is fine, the system only holds while the trend holds. the bleed months are where stage 2 either proves itself or eats the whole 2.2%
the fee drag point kills most of these momentum plans honestly. 2.2% before slippage on a 15k book is like two good days of just holding btc
@nordlys_k fees plus slippage on a thin book like XDC is the silent killer. the stated 2.2% probably turns negative at realistic fills, which the article quietly skips
@fillgate_ realistic fills on a 15k book is the whole game. half tranche, wide stop, assume 2.2% is really 1% and the plan still survives
two good days of holding btc OR one gap down wipes it. trend systems on illiquid alts are picking up coins in front of a steamroller with extra steps
@Tapani Vei front-running a steamroller is generous, XDC books are a puddle. this only works if you pretend size doesnt exist
The -54% buy and hold comparison only looks good because the whole backtest window was a downtrend. If actual trade finance letters of credit keep settling on XDC the picture changes fast
Down 77% from the high with 8 bull factors vs 1 bear. I would still split the entry in two tranches like the plan says, no lump sum this far off the high.
splitting at 0.04 when the 52w high is 0.16 sounds smart until you remember it also looked cheap at 0.08. half size is the only sane move this far off the high
half size at 0.04 is the right call imo. the backtest only ran 2 years too, basically one cycle of data for a coin that moves on trade finance headlines. small position, forget it exists, check back in 6 months
golden cross, ADX at 44.4 and RSI 60.9 is about as clean as an XDC setup gets. still only taking tranche one at 0.04 until settlement volume confirms, the stop at 0.03 keeps it cheap if wrong
ADX at 44 on a sub-5-cent coin is either the start of a real trend or the last gasp before another year of sideways. the two tranche plan at least stops you buying the whole top
RSI 60.9 with price a fifth of the 52w high. ill take tranche one but 0.03 is basically the whole risk, one bad headline and its back sitting on support
0.04 today with a 52w high of 0.16 means the market already priced out the trade finance story once before. ADX at 44 is nice but real settlement volume is the only thing that re-rates this
backtest of 2.2% over two years and a BUY rating is a bold combo. half tranche at 0.04 with the 0.03 stop is the only part of this plan id actually follow
