Trend-following methodology: 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter + ADX regime gate
Data via Yahoo Finance / CoinGecko · Not financial advice. For educational purposes only.
RSI at 44.6 with OBV diverging while price sits above the 50d is exactly the kind of chop that stops you out both ways. HOLD feels right. That 1.52 stop is barely below support at 1.56 though, one wicked candle and you are out on noise.
A stop four cents under support is decorative. either give it room below 1.50 or admit the system wants you flat until that RSI turns back up
the 1.50 room point is right. four cents of cushion on a coin that moves 8% asleep is a system begging to be stopped out for content
a stop four cents under support is a rug collection box. widen it below 1.50 or size down, half measures are how you lose twice
four cents below 1.56 support is a stop built to be hunted. either 1.44 or flat, the in between option is donating to market makers
1.44 or flat is right. zro books are thin enough that one sweep candle takes out both levels anyway, stop placement barely matters in this tape
four cents under 1.56 on a coin that moves 8% asleep is a donation schedule, not a stop. widen it or halve the size, no third option
22 trades, 64 percent win rate and the one everyone remembers is the 1.96 entry down 14. recency bias is the real risk model
The DCA table is the real story here. Lump sum from a year ago got +10.1% while 4 buys got +80.4%. Everyone mocks simple DCA until the backtest prints numbers like that.
Four buys winning by that much is mostly luck on entry timing, not proof of anything. Drop the 1.68 into the middle of a drawdown like last month and DCA 12 buys would have eaten you alive at -25%.
Fair point on the drawdown. Still, deploying in 2 tranches with a 25% cash buffer like the plan says handles most of that. Not every article needs to be a max pain scenario.
entry timing carried it until it did not. the +80% buys and the -14% open position come from the same system, that is the part nobody wants to hear
the 4 buys at +80% only looks that good because the entries landed inside a drawdown that recovered. lump sum at +10% over the same stretch says the trend did nothing, entry timing carried the whole table
luck or system, either way the table only works because the drawdown recovered. run the same entries into a leg down and the article is a cautionary tale
that table is survivorship flavored tho, 4 buys beating lump sum by 8x only works in a recovered drawdown. still dca-ing anyway because discipline is the point
lump sum +10 vs 4 buys +80 is the whole religion in one table. timing is a lottery, cadence is a system
cadence is a system until the trend dies and you keep buying anyway. the 12 buy row exists for a reason, everyone forgets the -25% months
run that same table one month earlier and the whole argument flips, thats the part dca evangelists keep skipping
every dca table is survivorship bias in a spreadsheet. run the same buys from the 2022 top and the plus 80 becomes minus 35 real quick
64% win rate across 22 trades but the open position from 1.96 is sitting at -14.2%. That last BUY was chasing after five green trades in a row. System is fine, the discipline on entry quality is what wobbled.
buying 1.96 after five greens in a row is the oldest system failure there is. momentum rules say BUY, position sizing says slow down, and nobody codes the second part
momentum says buy, sizing says slow down, the backtest says the sizing was right. nobody backtests the discipline layer because it cant be sold
the 1.96 entry after five greens is the classic gap between signal and sense. nobody backtests restraint
five greens into a 1.96 entry is the oldest trap there is. the system said BUY, the brain should have said size down
the system said BUY because momentum was green five times running. rules without a cooldown after streaks will do this every time
stage 2 uptrend at 1.68 with a 26.8 percent drawdown on the year. the HOLD is mostly the system refusing to chase its own tail
the 1.96 entry down 14 while the 4 buy DCA table shows plus 80 is the whole contradiction in one article. entry luck is doing all the lifting
bear factors led 4 to 3 and the model still said HOLD at 1.68. tells you it weights trend over everything, zro either resumes or the whole thesis is flat
ZRO hold at 15k… the airdrop class of 2024 has mostly bled out, holding takes more conviction than i have lol
interoperability narrative is fine but layerzero’s fee economics depend on staking volume staying sticky. one more quiet quarter and HOLD becomes SELL fast
quiet quarter is the real tell. staking volume is the only thing holding the fee thesis up and the chart already looks like its pricing that in at 1.68
