GraniteShares has pushed back the launch of its proposed triple-leverage crypto funds to November 30, 2026. The funds track XRP, Ethereum, Solana and Bitcoin, and the delay hits the altcoin side of the market in particular. If you were hoping a new way to bet big on altcoins would arrive this month, you now have to wait. For everyday holders, that is not necessarily bad news.

The Hook: A Quiet Filing With Loud Implications
According to reports on the filing, GraniteShares submitted a post-effective amendment to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). That is a routine form that changes the date a fund’s paperwork takes effect. The new date is November 30, 2026. The launch had previously been expected in late October.
The package covers eight proposed funds. Each asset gets a 3x long and a 3x short version. A “3x” fund tries to deliver three times the daily move of the coin it follows. If XRP rises in one day, the long fund aims to rise three times as much. If XRP falls, it aims to fall three times as much.
On-Chain Evidence: Where the Market Stands Today
The delay arrives in a market that is jumpy but not panicking. Our price snapshot for this morning shows the following:
- Bitcoin — about $80,550, basically flat over 24 hours
- Ethereum — about $2,334, down roughly 0.6% on the day
- Solana — about $101, up roughly 0.2%
Traders are also watching the U.S. Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision. The Fed sets the cost of borrowing money. When rates stay high, risky assets such as altcoins often struggle to rally. Reports also point to U.S. midterm election uncertainty as a reason for caution.
One note on the filing: the amendment itself does not give a reason for the delay. It also does not say the SEC rejected anything. The link to the Fed and the elections comes from market analysts, not from GraniteShares. Treat it as informed opinion, not confirmed fact.
The Core Conflict: Big Demand for Leverage, Big Risk for Buyers
Why would anyone want a triple-leverage fund? The answer is simple: a shot at fast gains. A small daily move becomes a big one. Traders who think XRP or Solana will jump can use these funds instead of buying the coin.
The trouble is that leverage cuts both ways. Think of it like driving a sports car on an icy road. You can go fast. You can also lose control quickly. Altcoins already swing more than Bitcoin. Tripling those swings makes losses arrive fast.
There is also a quieter problem. These funds reset every day. Over several days of choppy trading, the fund can lose value even if the coin ends up roughly where it started. That is why products like this are generally built for short-term traders, not long-term savers.
The filing uses Rule 485(b) of the Securities Act of 1933. According to reports, this rule lets a fund company move its effective date without restarting the whole review. So this looks like a scheduling move, not a fresh hurdle. Also, November 30 is the date the paperwork can take effect. It does not guarantee the funds start trading that day.
Market Implications: What This Means for Your Wallet
For most investors, the practical effect is small. No new money from these products will reach XRP, Ether or Solana in October. But the funds were never a core source of demand for most holders. They are trading tools.
Here is what to keep in mind:
- Don’t expect a price jump from the launch — leveraged funds are built for trading, not for steady buying.
- Watch the calendar — November 30 is the next date to mark, but it is not a promise.
- Know the risk — a 3x fund can lose value much faster than the coin itself.
- Check your own risk level — if a single bad day would hurt, leverage is not for you.
The delay also shows how cautious Wall Street firms remain around risky crypto products. Even with Bitcoin near $80,550, issuers appear to be picking their moments. That matters because the speed of new product launches is one signal of how comfortable big firms feel in the market.
Altcoins elsewhere are moving on their own news. Reports today point to Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin expanding on Coinbase and to a Google Cloud custody service that Alphabet says it uses for its own assets on Solana and Ethereum. Those stories show that interest in altcoin infrastructure continues even while leveraged funds wait.
The Verdict: Patience Is Not a Bad Strategy
This delay is a speed bump, not a stop sign. The funds are still on the SEC’s calendar. But the timing is a reminder that the market is waiting on the Fed and the elections, and that big firms are not rushing.
For regular investors, the smart move is simple. Don’t chase leverage because a new fund is coming. If you hold XRP, Ether or Solana, your plan should not depend on a product that only traders will use. Set a budget you can afford to lose. Decide in advance how you will react to a sharp drop. And remember that the launch date can still change.
If the funds do arrive on schedule, expect more short-term trading activity in these coins. That can mean sharper daily swings. A long-term holder does not need to react to each one.
Disclaimer
The cryptocurrency market remains highly volatile. This article is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice.
everyone excited about 3x solana and xrp funds forgets volatility drag. chop sideways for a week and the fund bleeds even if the coin ends flat. learned that the hard way with leveraged etfs in 2022
ok boomer some of us hold a 3x for an afternoon not a decade. vol drag is a you problem lol
Third delay on these 3x funds and the amendment still gives no reason. Calling it a month slip is generous, feels like they are waiting out the Fed decision before dropping leveraged alts into a choppy tape.
@tremor_cap_ the article is right that nothing was rejected though. SEC silence is not SEC denial, and midterms in a week explains the caution better than some hidden problem with the filing.
A Rule 485(b) amendment just moves the effective date on paper. The SEC never pushed back on the products themselves, and that is the actual signal people are missing here.
agree on the signal read. eight funds in one package was always going to take longer to list than people hoped, nov 30 feels like logistics more than anything
3x daily reset on SOL is a portfolio shredder even in a good month. Anyone who read the volatility decay section and still wants in should paper trade it first. RLUSD on Coinbase is the safer Ripple-adjacent play today.
Waiting for the Bitcoin ETP while XRP, ETH and SOL get theirs first is an odd sequencing choice. Usually the boring asset clears paperwork faster. Nov 30 if nothing slips again, I guess.
