Kazakhstan Plans National Crypto Analytics Center

National Bank Chairman Timur Suleimenov unveiled the plan at a government meeting, with the center built on the central bank’s SupTech supervisory platform

Kazakhstan has announced plans to establish a National Cryptocurrency Analytics Center that will monitor digital asset transactions across fiat payments, crypto transfers, wallets and customer data, marking one of the most comprehensive state-level crypto surveillance initiatives ever proposed in Central Asia.

National Bank of Kazakhstan Chairman Timur Suleimenov disclosed the plan during a government meeting on Sept. 15, saying the center would be built on the central bank’s SupTech supervisory platform, according to Qazinform News Agency. The system will analyze both the fiat and cryptocurrency components of transactions, along with information on clients, wallets and individual transfers.

Banks, law enforcement agencies and licensed digital asset providers will have access to verification tools offered through the center, Suleimenov said. The National Cryptocurrency Analytics Center will also be integrated with the National Bank’s Anti-Fraud Center, placing digital asset monitoring alongside an existing system used by financial institutions and government bodies to identify suspicious financial activity.

Built on the SupTech supervisory backbone

The National Bank has been developing its SupTech platform as a centralized system for supervising digital asset markets and payment organizations. In an August update on its 2025-2029 digitalization and data management strategy, the central bank said the platform covers the entire supervisory process, from maintaining registries and profiles of regulated entities to analyzing reports, conducting blockchain analytics and automating supervisory actions.

The central bank had planned to move the full supervisory cycle to the system during the second half of 2026, and the platform is now set to provide the technical base for the cryptocurrency analytics center. That would allow transaction information to be assessed alongside customer and wallet data in a single government-operated environment, rather than split across banking compliance departments and separate crypto intelligence vendors.

The move reflects a broader pattern in which Kazakhstan has been expanding state oversight of cryptocurrency activity while simultaneously allowing digital asset services to operate through regulated channels. Authorities blocked more than 1,100 online platforms offering cryptocurrency exchange services without authorization during 2025, an enforcement campaign that included measures against illegal exchange points and unlicensed crypto services as officials sought to direct trading toward regulated operators.

The country had taken similar action a year earlier. Financial authorities liquidated 36 illegal crypto platforms with a combined turnover of 60 billion tenge during 2024 and seized 4.8 million USDT from unauthorized operators. Officials said at the time that platforms without proper anti-money laundering and Know Your Customer controls were being used for activities including fraud and drug trafficking.

Integration with the Anti-Fraud Center

The National Cryptocurrency Analytics Center will work alongside infrastructure that the National Bank has operated since August 2024. The Anti-Fraud Center was launched with law enforcement agencies and financial market participants to help organizations detect and block fraudulent transactions, and its system lets participating institutions exchange information in real time while maintaining a centralized database of activity linked to suspected fraud.

Participation has expanded substantially since launch. More than 200 organizations, including banks, microfinance companies, telecom operators and government agencies, had connected to the platform by July 2025, according to the National Bank.

The scale of the activity flowing through the system is considerable. As of Jan. 1, 2026, the system had registered 80,871 incidents involving transactions with signs of fraud and roughly 19,810 incidents connected to drug trafficking, illegal gambling and financial pyramid schemes. Authorities had blocked 2.8 billion tenge through the system by that point, while more than 500 million tenge had been returned to people affected by fraud.

Work during 2025 expanded links between the Anti-Fraud Center, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Interior Ministry and telecom operators. The central bank has also been developing artificial intelligence tools for behavioral analysis and early detection of suspicious customer activity, including a pilot project on session-based analysis designed to examine user behavior inside financial applications, identify anomalies and test predictive fraud detection. The National Bank said the work would include safeguards covering personal data and the technical handling of behavioral information.

What it means for crypto users in Kazakhstan

Connecting the cryptocurrency analytics center to this infrastructure will give participating banks, licensed digital asset providers and law enforcement bodies direct visibility into wallet-level activity, tightening the link between onchain transfers and the traditional financial system in the country.

For licensed operators, the center could streamline verification and compliance obligations by centralizing tools that were previously procured individually. For unlicensed services, the announcement signals that the enforcement campaign of the past two years is likely to intensify, with the technical capacity to match.

The plan positions Kazakhstan alongside a growing group of jurisdictions building state-operated blockchain analytics capabilities, and it arrives as the country continues to balance its large crypto mining sector and regulated trading venues against a hard line on unauthorized intermediaries. The central bank’s timeline for launching the analytics center has not been disclosed, but the underlying SupTech platform was already scheduled to carry the full supervisory cycle by the end of 2026.

  1. Building it straight into the Anti-Fraud Center means every wallet lookup and fiat transfer sits in one government dashboard. Suleimenov is basically announcing chain analysis with extra steps.

    1. extra steps is generous. SupTech already did registry plus blockchain analytics per their Aug update, this is just the surveillance layer going live

  2. waiting for the part where licensed Kazakh exchanges have to hand over full customer wallet maps. that is the real story buried under the analytics language

    1. They already do under AIFC rules, this just centralizes it. Banks get access too, not only law enforcement. Faster freezes incoming

    2. its worse than handover maps. SupTech gets customer data too per the announcement, so fiat history and wallet clustering end up in the same profile. no thanks

  3. fiat rails, crypto transfers, wallets AND client data all in one government system. surveillance nerds must be celebrating in Astana tonight

  4. They blocked over 1,100 unlicensed exchange platforms while building this. Regulated channels exist, but only if the state can see every transfer you make. Not a great trade

    1. @Aisulu hard agree, tho hooking it into the Anti-Fraud Center at least means banks query one system instead of five vendors. efficiency win, privacy loss

      1. efficiency for whom tho. one dashboard means one leak away from every Kazakh wallet tied to a name. hard pass on celebrating that

  5. Suleimenov announcing this at a gov meeting on Sept 15 and the center already runs on SupTech, this was in the works for months. alga bro, surveillance first, rules later
