LayerZero at 2.13 USD: Buybacks, Derivatives and the Road to a Possible 3 USD Print
LayerZero’s ZRO token has climbed roughly 41 percent over seven days to trade near 2.13 USD, its strongest rally in months, as another reported protocol buyback and expanding derivatives activity coincide with growing attention ahead of the ATLAS rollout.
CoinGecko data shows ZRO up about 11.8 percent over 24 hours and 41.1 percent over seven days at the latest reading, with a gain of roughly 97 percent over 30 days. The token’s market capitalization stands near 840 million USD, with 24-hour spot volume around 158 million USD. The move has pushed ZRO back above 2 USD after it spent much of recent months below that level, with the latest 24-hour range sitting between roughly 1.91 and 2.18 USD.
What the Weekly Chart Shows
On the weekly timeframe, ZRO trades around 2.10 to 2.13 USD after reaching approximately 2.19 USD, leaving the token close to its local high. Bollinger Bands illustrate how quickly the move developed: price is trading above the upper weekly band near 1.84 USD, while the middle band sits around 1.08 USD. Trading above the upper band signals strong momentum, though it can leave price vulnerable to consolidation when buying slows.
The weekly relative strength index has climbed to about 67.6 — below the traditional 70 overbought threshold but close enough to show momentum has become elevated. For the breakout to extend, ZRO first needs to establish support above the recent 2.18 to 2.20 USD high. A sustained break would leave 3 USD as the next visible psychological level, while a failure to hold would put the upper Bollinger Band near 1.84 USD back in focus as the first technical support area.
Crypto analyst Pentoshi described ZRO as having a “great weekly chart” and said fundamentals had improved with ATLAS approaching. His comments are an analyst view, not a confirmed price target.
Buybacks Have Returned as Price Moves Higher
On-chain monitoring reported another LayerZero purchase on Oct. 6: roughly 162,000 ZRO worth around 347,000 USD, taking the reported cumulative total of open-market purchases to approximately 2.538 million tokens. The figure was based on monitoring from TradingBeats and reported by BlockBeats.
LayerZero’s own buyback tracker has not yet incorporated the latest transaction. The foundation page currently lists 2,375,357 ZRO purchased at a cost basis of approximately 3.33 million USD through August. The additional 162,000-token purchase would bring the running total close to the 2.538 million figure cited by on-chain monitors.
Existing purchases are funded mainly by Stargate revenue — fees collected from cross-chain swaps and transfers are used to buy ZRO on the open market. The protocol has used buybacks before during weak price periods, including a 10 million USD open-market purchase in November 2025 as the token recovered from a sharp decline.
Not every recent on-chain movement points the same direction. On Oct. 3, two addresses linked to a LayerZero strategic partner transferred 8 million ZRO, worth approximately 14.98 million USD, to Coinbase Prime. The addresses had received 40.57 million ZRO from a strategic-partner multisig roughly a year earlier. A transfer to Coinbase Prime does not establish that the tokens were sold — the platform supports custody as well as institutional transactions — and no public statement has identified the transfer’s purpose.
ATLAS Could Add Another Demand Source
Attention around ZRO has increased since LayerZero introduced ATLAS in August. The company describes ATLAS as a trading infrastructure system combining matching, clearing, settlement and risk management for open and institutional markets, running on Zero, LayerZero’s planned blockchain for financial-market workloads.
The fee structure gives ZRO a direct role. Trading venues using Open ATLAS can receive rebates ranging from 20 to 65 percent depending on volume and ZRO staking. After the venue rebate is deducted, 25 percent of the remaining economics go to the market creator and 75 percent are allocated to buying and burning ZRO — another fee-linked mechanism beyond the existing Stargate-funded buybacks. ZRO rose more than 16 percent following the original ATLAS announcement.
LayerZero has not published a firm ATLAS mainnet date; its website says the system is “coming later this year.” Pentoshi’s reference to a launch within weeks remains an analyst expectation, not a company timetable.
Leverage Is Building
The derivatives market has expanded alongside the spot rally. CoinGlass shows ZRO futures volume near 308 million USD over 24 hours and open interest around 279 million USD at the latest reading, with the derivatives price near 2.11 USD, up roughly 10.6 percent.
Rising open interest confirms leveraged exposure has grown while price trades close to recent highs — but it does not indicate which direction those positions will ultimately push price. Between stretched weekly momentum readings, a heavy calendar of unlock-linked transfers, and a fee-burn mechanism still awaiting launch, ZRO’s path to 3 USD depends on both technical follow-through above 2.20 USD and ATLAS shipping on schedule.
ZRO at 2.13 after 41 percent in a week, riding above the upper weekly Bollinger band at 1.84 with the middle band way down at 1.08. That gap between bands is the kind of stretch that usually mean-reverts hard before ATLAS even ships.
Agreed on the mean reversion point. Last time ZRO tagged the upper weekly band it bled for a month straight. ATLAS narrative better deliver before the band catches up.
last band tag bled for a month straight, exactly why im trimming into this strength instead of adding. ATLAS better ship before the bands catch up
2.18 to 2.20 has to flip to support first or the 3 dollar talk is noise. and that 8M ZRO moved to Coinbase Prime on Oct 3 is the overhang nobody prices in
that coinbase prime transfer is the one. if thats treasury sell-side prep the buyback is just recycling exit liquidity with extra steps
middle band at 1.08 is the gravity well everyone ignores while chanting 3 usd. if ATLAS fee routing actually lands before the reversion the bands recalibrate fast tho
the 1.08 middle band feels like a different regime at this point. the band math resets if ATLAS fees actually route into the treasury, that is the whole bet in one sentence
30 day chart is up 97 percent while market cap is only 840M. Buybacks plus derivatives expansion is doing the lifting, not organic demand. Question is whether buyback treasury depth survives a red week.
3 USD target needs roughly another 40 percent from here on an 840M cap with 158M daily spot volume. Not impossible in this tape, but the 1.91 to 2.18 range from the last 24h shows how thin the book still is.
The thin book cuts both ways though. That same 158M volume pushed it 41 percent in a week, so a 3 USD print only needs one more hot derivatives stretch.
thin book plus weekly RSI at 67.6, one funding flush and this retraces toward the middle band at 1.08 fast
158M daily volume on an 840M cap is actually decent depth for once. but yeah 3 USD needs the whole market to hold, not just ATLAS hype
ZRO buybacks doing what the airdrop crowd swore was impossible, +41 percent in a week lmao. holding till i see how ATLAS actually fees
buybacks against 158M daily volume is a rounding error tho, this move is derivatives chasing momentum, not treasury support
fair, 158M daily volume dwarfs the buyback wallet. but if ATLAS fees start routing into that treasury the math flips fast, suddenly an 840M cap looks thin
derivatives doing the lifting is fine by me, momentum is momentum. just dont call it a buyback rally when the treasury bid is a rounding error lmao
buybacks funded by Stargate fees are neat but 2.5M ZRO bought against 8M ZRO parked at Coinbase Prime by a partner. the overhang is bigger than the bid
162k ZRO bought oct 6 against an 8M partner wallet parked at prime. the daily buyback is like 2% of the overhang, the bid is all perp funding right now
2 percent of the overhang is generous. the buyback is a narrative tool at this size, price holding above 2 depends entirely on perp funding staying positive
2 percent of the overhang per day adds up if it stays consistent. the risk is the buyback pausing the same week funding flips
the coinbase prime move is the tell. partners do not park 8M ZRO at an exchange because they plan to hold forever
840 million market cap after doubling in 30 days feels either early or like a trap, and I cannot tell which with LayerZero. Watching whether 2 USD holds as support this time.
everyone staring at the 3 USD target while ZRO rides 30 cents above the upper weekly band at 1.84. mean reversion does not care about your ATLAS thesis lol
an 8m zro partner wallet moving to prime on oct 3 right before a 41 percent week is the kind of coincidence that deserves its own article
buybacks while price rides above the upper weekly band is aggressive timing. works until it doesnt, then the treasury is buying its own dip with no exit
