Litecoin Eyes 75 USD Breakout as Golden Cross Signals Trend Shift

Litecoin has surged past the 64–65 USD resistance zone and is pressing against the 75 USD level after one of its sharpest single-day advances in months, with a freshly formed golden cross on the daily chart adding a technical backdrop that traders say could determine whether the rally extends or stalls.

At the time of writing, LTC traded near 74.20 USD, up roughly 20 percent from its daily open near 61.85 USD, having briefly touched 74.77 USD earlier in the session on Sep. 24. The move extends a recovery that began from mid-September lows and finally pushed the cryptocurrency through a price area that had repeatedly capped earlier gains.

## Golden cross forms on the daily chart

The most widely watched technical development is the crossing of the 50-day moving average above the 200-day moving average — a pattern traders refer to as a golden cross. On the daily LTC/USDT chart, the 50-day average sits at approximately 51.33 USD, now above the 200-day average near 50.67 USD.

Both averages remain far below the current price, which means the cross reflects a slower shift in the broader trend rather than an immediate buy signal. The question for traders is whether buyers can defend the breakout above 70 USD and convert it into a sustained push through 75 USD.

On the 4-hour chart, immediate resistance is placed at 75 USD, followed by 78.13 USD, levels derived from the chart’s Murrey Math framework. The latest 4-hour candle reached approximately 74.29 USD before consolidating just below the threshold.

## Momentum readings climb

Momentum indicators have strengthened alongside price. The 4-hour Bull Bear Power reading climbed to 15.07 as LTC approached 75 USD, reflecting how far and how quickly price has moved above its recent trading range. The daily Awesome Oscillator rose to 8.47, one of its highest visible readings in months.

Strong momentum can carry a breakout further, but analysts caution that buyers still need to defend the levels cleared during the rise. Neither indicator confirms that 75 USD has been decisively broken.

## Liquidation clusters surround the highs

Data from CoinGlass adds another layer to the setup. The three-day liquidation heatmap shows bands of potential leverage clustered near 75 USD and extending toward 77 USD. If LTC rises into those bands, short positions may come under pressure to close, potentially accelerating the move — though the heatmap marks possible liquidation levels, not liquidations that have already occurred.

Futures open interest in Litecoin stands above 500 million USD, indicating substantial outstanding positioning as the rally develops. Open interest alone does not reveal whether traders are oriented toward further gains or losses.

Earlier trading demonstrated how quickly short covering can move the market. A one-hour rise from roughly 61.92 USD to 66.36 USD early on Sep. 24 coincided with reported short liquidations across major exchanges.

## Network activity jumps

The Litecoin Foundation added to the activity surrounding the move, reporting on Sep. 23 that more than 17 million LTC — worth over 1 billion USD at current prices — moved across the network within 24 hours. The metric tracks blockchain transfers rather than exchange purchases, so it does not by itself establish how much of the price gain came from spot demand.

## What happens if the breakout fails

If LTC turns lower before clearing 75 USD, the 4-hour chart identifies 71.88 USD as the first marked support level. A drop through it would shift attention to the 68.75 USD pivot, followed by the former trading-range boundary at 65.63 USD.

The CoinGlass heatmap also shows potential liquidation leverage below price, with bands around 69–71 USD and 64–66 USD. A decline into those zones could amplify volatility, though their presence does not mean LTC must revisit them.

The 64–65 USD area carries particular significance because it capped the previous advance before the Sep. 24 surge. Holding above it on any pullback would signal that buyers continue to defend the breakout. Falling back below it would return LTC to its old range, golden cross or not.

## Collateral use adds utility context

Separately, Coinbase lists LTC as eligible collateral for USDC loans through Morpho on Base for qualifying customers in the United States, excluding New York residents. That utility does not establish a direct link to Sep. 24 buying, leaving the 75 USD test and the structure beneath it as the clearer near-term measures of the rally’s strength.

For now, Litecoin sits at a decision point: a golden cross, rising momentum and liquidation pressure on shorts above 75 USD on one side; a fast, extended advance and unfilled leverage bands below on the other. The next few sessions should determine whether the breakout matures into a broader trend change or fades back into the range.

Market snapshot (Sep. 24, 17:00 UTC, CoinGecko): BTC 84,494 USD, ETH 2,685.99 USD, SOL 117.05 USD.

  1. 20 percent day from 61.85 to brush 74.77 and suddenly everyone cares about LTC. golden cross at 51.3 vs 50.7 is fine but both averages sit 20 bucks under price. lagging info.

  2. last time LTC moved like this the follow through lasted three days. if the 64 to 65 breakout flips back to support I’m a buyer, otherwise it’s a chase.

    1. volume break is the signal but 20 percent in a day also front-runs the cross. late crowd buys the headline, then chop city

  3. LTC at 74 while the cross sits at 51.33 vs 50.67. the averages are twenty bucks behind price. the cross confirms the past, not the next leg
