  1. adx below 22 and people are still trying to force trades on this. the 109% ytd WAS the trend, this chop is just the invoice for it

    1. the invoice framing is good but the DCA table is the real gut punch. lump sum +109.6% vs 12-buy DCA at +11.0%. chop hurts, sitting out hurt worse

      1. lump sum beating DCA by that much after a 37.9% drawdown is wild. hindsight lump sum always looks smarter until the wick toward 2.95 actually happens

      2. lump sum wins because the year trended. run that same table on a 2022 style grind and dca looks like genius. entry style is just regime luck

        1. the 98 point lump sum gap is just 2026 trending. rerun the table on the 37.9 drawdown slice and dca wins walking away

          1. you dont even need the drawdown slice, the 5.32 atr alone justifies spreading entries. lump sum won because 2026 trended, thats the whole sentence

    2. the invoice framing is right. price above the 200d at 3.30 while the 50d sits at 4.16, that gap had to resolve sideways. HOLD and let the averages converge is the boring correct call

  2. stop at 2.95 while support sits at 3.30 is a tight leash. one wick through 3.30 with 5.32% daily ATR and you are stopped before the bottoming thesis even gets tested

    1. oda nailed it, one 5.32 atr day through 3.30 and the stop is gone before the bottoming thesis gets tested. widen it or dont run one

    2. a stop at 2.95 sitting inside support at 3.30 is how you donate to market makers. widen it or dont use one at all

    3. oda is right, a stop under the 200d at 2.26 with smaller size beats donating at 2.95. the wick always finds the tightest leash first

  3. HOLD is the honest call. RSI at 36.6 with ADX under 22 means no trend to ride, and forcing trades between the 200d and 5.32 is just paying the ATR tax

  4. RSI at 36.6 with ADX below 22 basically says no trend to ride here. Still up 109% on the year though, so holding beats forcing a trade. That 5.32 resistance feels far away until it reclaims the 50d at 4.16.

    1. Agree on the 50d, but the 200d at 2.26 rising under price is what keeps me from calling this dead. Bottoming after a 37.9% drawdown takes forever, patience is the position.

      1. That 2.26 floor is a long way down though. If 4.16 gives out, the 37.9% drawdown stat gets rewritten pretty fast.

        1. 4.16 giving out is the actual test. RSI at 36 with ATR over 5 percent a day, a flush to the low 3s before any 5.32 rerun is the likelier path. wait for the reclaim, not the floor

      2. the 200d at 2.26 doing quiet work under price, fair point. i just dont love sitting through a 5.32% daily ATR grind. holding yes, adding not yet

  5. That Sep 5 SELL at 4.82 to Oct 2 SELL at 3.81 stretch hurt. System caught +46.7% on one leg then gave back 15.7% on the next, which is kind of the whole trend-following deal.

    1. two SELL signals in a month, 4.82 then 3.81, and the verdict is HOLD. system basically admits it got whipped both ways lol

      1. whipped both ways is exactly right, but the 50% win rate on 4 trades is doing the heavy lifting here. cut the -15.7% leg faster and the +74.1% looks even better against buy and hold

      2. whipped twice and still up 74 vs 109 hold, thats trend following working as intended honestly. the invoice metaphor earlier in the thread nailed it

  6. 200d rising at 2.26 under a 3.30 grind is a slow bottoming pattern if i have ever seen one. hold it and forget the tab exists

    1. agree on forgetting the tab exists, but a 5.32 daily ATR means adding before the 4.16 reclaim is paying volatility rent twice

  7. hold with rsi 36 and no trend, fine. but the whole plan is wait for 4.16, which is just waiting with extra steps. call it what it is

  8. lump sum winning by 98 points says more about 2026 than about dca as a method. the 12 buy crowd still slept better through the 2.95 scare
