Trend-Following Backtest
2-year simulation on a notional USD 10,000 starting balance using the model’s 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter. The model goes long when price is above a rising 50d MA with RSI 40-75, and goes flat on a death cross or RSI above 82. Hypothetical, before fees and slippage.
Strategy vs Buy & Hold
| Asset | Strategy | Buy & Hold | Max DD | Trades | Win Rate |
| QNT | -59.2% | +99.2% | -61.1% | 54 | 37% |
DCA vs Lump Sum (QNT)
Hypothetical result of a notional USD 10,000 placed one year ago under different timing schedules. Simulation only, not a recommendation.
| Strategy | Return | Value Today |
| Lump Sum (1y ago) | +196.9% | USD 21,523 |
| DCA — 4 buys | +169.0% | USD 26,904 |
| DCA — 6 buys | +163.9% | USD 26,387 |
| DCA — 12 buys | +154.8% | USD 25,482 |
Levels the system watches
Reference levels used by the trend model to classify QNT. They describe how the model reads the chart, not what anyone should do.
| Support (recent swing low) | USD 174.00 |
| Resistance (recent swing high) | USD 255.35 |
| Trend model’s invalidation level (ATR-based) | USD 153.24 (-18.9% from current price) |
| ATR (14) | USD 17.84 (9.44%/day) |
| Price location vs trend (model label) | Pullback |
The invalidation level is where the model would stop treating the current trend reading as valid (roughly 2x ATR below price or 0.5x ATR below the recent swing low, whichever is lower). It is a model parameter, not a stop-loss recommendation.

QNT up 3x off the 54 low and people still calling it dead. Model says Stage 1 bottoming, chart says the same thing.
3x from the low means a lot less when it bled out from 357. The RSI at 47 tells you nobody believes yet either.
47% off the high but its sitting right under the 50d at 193. thats the line to watch imo
^ exactly. a weekly close above 193 with OBV already climbing and this flips from neutral to something real
