Burn an NFT, Save Another: Everdraw Grimoire Reveal Lets Holders Decide Which 2,000 of 6,000 Artworks Survive

Most NFT projects decide rarity behind closed doors and tell you what your collectible is worth. Everdraw is handing that decision to its holders: a live “Grimoire reveal” where players burn their NFTs, pick from random options, and collectively decide which of 6,000 artworks survive — while an eight-week season backed by 50,000 USDC in prizes gets underway.

The Hook: You Decide What Gets Minted

Everdraw, a project blending trading card game mechanics with role-playing elements, has put its Grimoire reveal page online and published the reward schedule for Season Genesis — the first version of its first product, an eight-week season backed by 50,000 USDC in prizes. But the headline feature is the reveal itself, which flips the usual NFT script: rarity is not set by the team. It is set by the crowd.

Here is why that matters for anyone who has bought an NFT and watched it become worthless. In a traditional drop, the project mints everything and the market sorts out prices later. In Everdraw’s system, the team generated 6,000 images — but only 2,000 will actually be minted. The other 4,000 get thrown out. Which halves survive depends entirely on which ones holders choose during the reveal. “You’ll be the master of what gets minted,” the team told its community.

On-Chain Evidence: How the Reveal Works

The mechanics, as laid out in Everdraw’s announcement:

  • Burn to reveal — a holder selects a Grimoire, which is then burned (permanently destroyed), and a profile-picture NFT lands in the Everdraw collection
  • Summoning Grimoires — present three randomized character options (Wink, Flux or Glyph); the holder keeps one pick and the other two are “sent to the cemetery”
  • 21 one-of-one editions — bypass the choice entirely and go straight to the holder, so nobody can accidentally destroy a 1/1
  • 218 Zombie Grimoires — roughly 10 percent of the supply; using one lets a holder rescue any PFP already sitting in the cemetery
  • Rarity data on the card — each option shows how many of each trait have been minted so far, so holders can judge scarcity before committing

Think of it like a draft pick at a card table. You see three cards, you keep one, the others go into a discard pile — and if you hold the rare Zombie kind of Grimoire, you can reach into the discard pile and pull something back out. A Zombie cannot produce a one-of-one, and a PFP rejected in a Summoning reveal will not be offered to another Summoning holder, which keeps the economy of choices honest.

The team is refreshingly blunt about what traits are rare: it called the question “a trick question,” because revealers settle that with their picks. In theory, one of the three base characters could finish with zero mints — wiped out of existence by collective choice. None of the current traits changes the in-game experience, the team confirmed.

The Core Conflict: Survivorship as a Game Mechanic

There is a tension worth understanding before you jump in. On one hand, the reveal is genuinely engaging — a game of taste, timing and strategy where waiting lets you see which way the crowd leans (users can view the choices other people made). On the other hand, burning a Grimoire is irreversible. If you reveal early and pick a trait that later falls out of fashion, there is no undo button.

Holders who skip the reveal entirely are not punished: benefits promised to Grimoire holders pass to the Everdraw NFTs, and those who never reveal still keep their rewards. That is a friendlier design than most projects would dare — no forced participation, no penalty for sitting out.

Market Implications: 50,000 USDC Says the Season Matters

Season Genesis runs for eight weeks, and every single week pays out 6,250 USDC — split between 4,500 USDC in rank rewards for top performers and 1,750 USDC in raffle rewards, with card packs being added to the raffle pool as well. For context, that is a serious prize budget for an NFT-native game in a market where most projects cannot fund a marketing tweet.

One deliberate constraint stands out: during Week 1, the in-game store stays shut, so players can only use items minted before launch. Everdraw framed it as a way to make the opening week a pure contest of preparation rather than spending power — a design choice that rewards early believers instead of late whales.

The reveal also does something quietly clever for supply. By destroying 4,000 of 6,000 generated images before they ever exist as NFTs, the project avoids the classic death spiral of oversupplied collections — the pattern that has floored floor prices across the NFT world during the multi-year shakeout.

The Verdict: What This Means for You

If you hold Grimoires, the decision is real and time-sensitive: reveal now for the widest choice of cemetery rescues and clean picks, or wait and watch what the crowd values. Either way your rewards are safe. If you are watching from the sidelines, the interesting signal is structural — community-controlled supply, refund-style safety nets and prize-backed seasons are replacing the extractive drop mechanics that defined the last NFT boom.

The stakes are modest but honest: a 2,000-piece collection shaped entirely by its holders, with weekly prizes to keep players engaged. Whether Everdraw’s crowd-sourced rarity becomes the standard — or a footnote — depends on the next eight weeks. NFT investors watching for signs of life in the market should keep an eye on Season Genesis.

  1. so the community can vote an entire character down to zero mints? brutal and kinda brilliant at the same time. poor Flux if that happens

  2. Ran draft nights at my local card shop for years. Making the discard pile part of the actual economy is clever. Those 218 Zombie Grimoires feel like the real scarce asset here.

    1. wait so holding a Zombie just to yoink something back from the cemetery is basically a put option on other ppl’s bad picks lol

  3. burning 4,000 of 6,000 artworks so the survivors get rare is such a degen mechanic. holders literally voting on what dies lol

  4. The 50,000 USDC season over eight weeks is the part that makes this more than a one night gimmick. Curious what retention looks like by week 6.

    1. ^ this but the survivors math is the real hook. whatever the crowd keeps automatically becomes the scarce set, rarity by committee instead of some team csv
