Trend-following methodology: 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter + ADX regime gate

buy signal at 0.20 with macd still red. golden cross crowd is gonna get chopped at 0.23 resistance, calling it now
macd lags hard in stage 2 uptrends though. adx at 24 says this trend has actual legs
0.23 is the wall everyone watched all summer, if it breaks on the first try ill eat my hat. chop is base case until the volume ratio holds above 2 for a week
chop at 0.23 only happens if volume dries up. OBV climbing with a 2.0 volume ratio says the breakout bid shows up first, but a stop under 0.19 is free insurance either way
backtest shows +51.8% on this system and people still sleep on ARB. support at 0.13 gives you a clean invalidation, risk is defined
defined risk until it gaps down lol. was holding from the 0.07 low days, this thing moves fast both ways
Backtest turning 15,000 into 27,379 looks great until you spot the -16.6% max drawdown. Deploying in 2 tranches with a 25% cash buffer is how I would run it too. RSI at 55.7 leaves room before things get hot.
16% drawdown on ARB is basically a quiet week lol. I bought near the 0.07 low and watching the golden cross hold is the only thing keeping me from taking profits at 0.20.
Agree on the tranche logic. My hangup is MACD still printing negative while everything else lines up bullish. 7 bull factors against 2 bear and MACD is one of the bears, that bugs me.
seven bullish factors and youre stuck on the one lagging indicator. macd printed red for weeks during plenty of stage 2 runs while price kept climbing, the adx at 24 matters more here imo
learned the macd lag lesson on sol the expensive way. adx is what gates my entries now too
macd is the last indicator to flip in stage 2, it printed red for weeks while sol climbed off the 2023 low. adx 24 with a 2.0 volume ratio is the pair that matters here
the macd hangup crowd again. it flipped red three weeks into the sol stage 2 run in 2023 and stayed red through a 90 percent climb, lagging indicators dont gate entries
-16.6% max drawdown on an L2 alt is honestly polite. run that backtest on 2022 data and the real drawdown prints much worse
a 147 percent upside call anchored on beating ETH by 3x is doing a lot of work. ill take the tranche structure and skip the price target fantasy
everyone arguing about macd while the writeup literally hands you a 0.13 invalidation. thats a 35% stop from 0.20, size tranche one accordingly
a 35% stop is exactly why the tranche structure exists. first tranche small enough that 0.13 hurts without ending you
35 percent stops only work with tranche one sized like a lottery ticket. the plan survives on sizing discipline more than on the signal
The +147.2% target assumes ARB beats ETH at +45.3% by roughly 3x. Bold call. Volume ratio at 2.0 with OBV climbing is the detail that makes me think this move has actual legs though.
ARB at 0.20 against a 0.46 52w high and the writeup still calls for +147%. thats a near 3x call on an L2 in year six. im half in and keeping dry powder under 0.18 just in case the stage 2 thesis needs more time
+147% sounds wild until you remember ARB bottomed at 0.07. off that base with a golden cross holding, 0.50 is not fantasy, its just the old range low acting as target
anchoring targets to the 0.07 low is survivor math. the old range low at 0.50 is a level, the 3x projection is vibes
0.50 as a level versus a projection is the right split. trade the tranche structure, ignore the 3x headline
dry powder under 0.18 is the right call. the writeup gives you 0.13 as invalidation but waiting for a retest of the 0.19-0.20 zone before the second tranche is how i would play a 3x call on an L2 this old
backtest says 27,379 off a 15k start and the max pain was -16.6 percent. the two tranche entry with a quarter parked in cash is the only part worth copying tbh
agreed, the 27k backtest number is marketing but quarter cash plus a defined 0.13 invalidation is an actual plan. most buy calls have neither
27,379 backtest off a 15k start looks tidy until your second tranche fills at 0.21 with slippage instead of a clean 0.20. still long, just honest about the math
0.23 has rejected every attempt since summer. the 2.0 volume ratio holding through the approach would be the first real tell this time is different
