25 thoughts on “BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) Analysis: HOLD — 10,000 Deployment Plan”

  1. A HOLD rating on a token fund with a monthly coupon is the least useful output this system has produced. The single bull factor being RSI 52 on a peg made my week though

  2. full technical writeup on a token that lives between 0.999 and 1.001, i love this site. honestly the deployment math was still worth reading, just skip the chart section

  3. running a 50d/200d MA backtest on something pegged to a buck is comedy. ADX 5.6 because it literally never moves, that aint a signal

    1. ^ exactly. any backtest flagging signals on a dollar peg is fitting noise. she even printed the ADX at 5.6 and called it informative lol

    2. the ADX 5.6 chart at least proves the peg holds in a screenshot, which is more than a few stablecoins managed this year. low bar but still

    3. you skipped the best part, the death cross. a fund with a -0.0 percent drawdown somehow death crossed. bearish on the dollar i guess lol

      1. the death cross on a 1.00 peg got a proper laugh out of me. whole writeup could end at the coupon line, the chart section is decoration for a fund that moves between 0.999 and 1.001

      2. ma_cross_myheart

death cross on a 1.00 fund is my favorite genre on this site. next week the model will find a head and shoulders in my checking account interest

  4. The comparison table is the real story here. SOL up 54.9% while BUIDL did what a money fund does, stayed at 1.00. Different jobs entirely.

    1. @Lorin right? calling it HOLD with 1 bull vs 4 bear factors is weird framing for a yield instrument. the edge is the coupon not the chart

    2. holding BUIDL through a 54.9 percent SOL run hurts in hindsight but that was never the trade. its the collateral you post so you dont have to sell the winners

  5. four bull vs bear factors on a fund that pays its coupon every month. the whole analysis could be one line: does BlackRock still exist, yes, HOLD.

    1. counterpoint, some of us park it as collateral and the redemption terms part was genuinely useful. the chart theater i could live without

      1. collateral parking is the actual use case here. monthly coupon beats a plain stablecoin while you wait, everything past that line in the writeup is chart theater

        1. Exactly. Margin collateral in something like this means a SOL drawdown never forces you to sell the winners. The monthly coupon is the entire product.

    2. Agreed, though my favorite detail is the Stage 3 Topping label. The fund sits at its 52 week high of 1.00 while the system calls it topping. Incredible charting.

    3. lmao at the one line HOLD test. adding mine: coupon lands monthly, peg has not blinked, the chart guys can keep the death cross

    4. Honestly the one line HOLD test should be the whole template for tokenized money funds. Coupon date and issuer solvency, done.

    5. lol fair. though the redemption mechanics section actually mattered, remember the usdc wobble. terms beat vibes during stress and nobody reads the terms until the stress

  6. parked some treasury cash in BUIDL last year, got the yield, slept fine. no idea why i would trend follow a dollar peg but the breakdown made me chuckle

  7. a 10k plan staggered into a fund that moves 0.001 in a bad week. just wire the whole ten grand and log off, the laddering is cosplay

  8. ten grand deployment plan staggered into a fund that pays the same coupon regardless of entry price. split one order into three and call it strategy lol

    1. buying the dip on a money market fund is a whole new personality type lol. its a parking spot with a coupon, not a trade
