Trend-following methodology: 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter + ADX regime gate
Data via Yahoo Finance / CoinGecko · Not financial advice. For educational purposes only.
DOT at 1.22 holding above the 200d at 1.07 while the yearly low was 0.73, that is a real base. RSI 63 still has room.
How do you square the BUY with the death cross still on the chart? 50d at 0.95 under the 200d at 1.07. Genuinely asking, the mixed signal confuses me.
Because price trading above both averages matters more than the lagging cross. Also 12 buy DCA at -11.2% vs lump sum -41% shows the edge is in entries, not conviction.
Because the 50d at 0.95 is rising fast while the 200d sits flat at 1.07, the cross resolves in weeks. The lag kills latecomers, not early entries
also worth noting the 12 buy DCA plan negates the timing question entirely, you are not making one decision at 1.22
answer to the question above: price above the 200d at 1.07 is the forward signal, the cross is the lagging one. old trend logic, still works
Answering your question: price at 1.22 is already above both the 50d at 0.95 and the 200d at 1.07. The cross is the lagging confirmation. If you wait for the golden cross to print you are probably buying 1.40.
buying 1.40 to feel confirmed is the golden cross tax. price leading the cross by a mile here, DOT rarely gives second entries
golden cross tax is exactly right. waited for confirmation on the last dot cycle and paid like 30% more. not doing that again at 1.22
-89.5% from 11.60 and they want me to buy because it is above the 50d. dot holders have seen this movie, it ends in a lower high
a lower high at 1.28 would still be +5% from here, even the bear case aint that bearish anymore
fellow 6 dollar survivor, 1.28 barely dents my basis but OBV climbing is the first signal in two years i havent ignored on instinct
been holding since 6 dollars so trust me i get the trauma. but 0.73 held and the OBV says someone is buying now. not me adding tho, learned that lesson
same 11.60 trauma but the 12 buy DCA at -11.2% vs lump sum at -41% is literally the answer to your cope complaint. nobody following this plan is lump summing 1.22
a lower high at 1.28 is still +5% from here, even your own bear case pays lol. i will take those odds with the 1.97 volume ratio behind it
plus 5% to your own bear case target while sitting above the 200d, the math argues with itself. the 1.97x volume ratio makes me lean your way
a lower high at 1.28 beats a lower low at 0.73 every time, but sure keep waiting on the 11.60 reunion lol
the -89.5% trauma is valid but OBV climbing while price chopped flat all year is the opposite of the usual lower high setup. 1.28 goes and the death cross talk evaporates
death cross still active but price above the 200d at 1.07, that thing is about to resolve. volume ratio 1.97 on accumulation is the detail i like
first dot writeup in a while that is not pure cope. ADX 34.8 says the trend is real, question is whether 1.22 breaks 1.28 before profit takers show up
Volume ratio 1.97 with OBV climbing. Someone big is accumulating DOT under 1.30. Watching that 1.28 resistance closely.
Volume at 1.97x average on an accumulation signal is the detail here. If 1.28 breaks on that kind of tape the death cross argument dies fast.
1.97x volume with price still stuck inside the base is the classic tell. someone is loading before the break, not after it
DOT basing between 0.73 and 1.22 all year and now OBV climbing with the volume ratio near 2. first writeup that got me to open the chart again
DOT spending all year between 0.73 and 1.22 and now printing 1.97x average volume, that base is the kind that moves fast when it finally goes
bases that grind for months between 0.73 and 1.22 tend to resolve violently, and with volume at 1.97x the resolution is probably not downward. watching 1.28 with you
