icp at 2.81 after topping at 15.56 and the call is BUY with a 15k deployment? thats catching a knife with your whole hand lol
trend following doesnt care that the top was 15.56. 8 of 10 factors flipped bullish, the system buys strength not bottoms. its fine to skip it but calling it knife catching misses the whole point of the signal
buying strength at 2.81 with 8 of 10 factors bullish i get, but a 42 percent win rate across 72 trades says the edge is thin. sizing matters more than the signal here
42 percent win rate is fine when winners run, the point of the backtest is staying in the market. still wouldnt deploy past batch 3 until 2.81 holds as a higher low
@subnet skeptic bro the article literally has a drawdown stat box, risk is priced in. dyor tho
the backtest ran -37.9% vs -39.1% buy and hold, 72 trades, 42% win rate. slow bleed either way, hardly a knife catch
72 trades at 42 percent win rate with basically the same bleed as hold tells you the signal adds almost nothing on icp though. the dca table is the useful part
72 trades is also a tiny sample for a trend system. 42 percent win rate on that n tells you basically nothing either way
72 trades is thin but the table printed both the minus 32 run and the win rate. a small n you can audit beats a black box with 500 trades you cannot
agree the printed losing column is rare, but 42 percent win rate on 72 trades still has huge error bars. the 2.49 stop is the only leg of this plan im leaning on
72 trades is thin sure, but the same table printed the minus 32 run openly. small n with honest reporting beats the 500 trade black box every signal page sells
the whole hand is 12 tranches not one order tho. the plan prints a stop at 2.49 and batches every buy, read past the badge before calling it knife catching
the knife comes with a printed stop 11.5 percent below entry and 12 batched tranches. catching it with oven mitts maybe, not your whole hand
knife catching assumes you bought the top lol. system flipped 8 of 10 factors at 2.81 with a printed stop, thats a process not a prayer
process sure, but 42 percent win rate over 72 trades says the process prints fees instead of alpha. batch 3 gate is where i stop pretending
I appreciate the entry levels but is there any version of this where the drawdown stops at 80%? what’s the invalidation
from what ive seen in these reports the invalidation is the signal flipping back, so a close below the short term trend line probably kills the deploy. holding 2.81 here is the line id watch
invalidation is in the plan, stop at 2.49. thats -11.5% and above support at 2.28, tighter than i expected from a trend guy
dca with 12 buys ended at 15,172 vs 8,956 lump sum on icp. with atr of 5.76% daily why would anyone drop 15k in one shot
that DCA table is doing heavy lifting. 15k into an asset with 5.76 percent daily ATR in one order is just donating to the wick
8 bull 2 bear and the comments are still all doom lol. wouldnt deploy the full 15k on day one myself but the trend structure off 2.81 is real
stop at 2.49 with support at 2.28 gives it room to breathe without gifting 15 percent. watching whether 2.81 holds as a higher low before i trust the flip
8 of 10 bullish at 2.81 after a year of dead air. credit for printing the stop at 2.49, skepticism for everything above it
15k deployment into an asset with 5.76 percent daily atr and people argue about the signal. batching is the whole edge, lump sum on icp has been a donation since 15.56
the gap between the 2.49 stop and 2.28 support is where this plan dies. one wick through both and youre out at the low
