KCS at 7.20 vs a 16.23 high and the call is HOLD lol. down 55% and the system says hold, alright then
Look at the backtest log tho, every quick swing trade lost money (-2.2, -5.4, -1.3). the HOLD makes sense, chopping it up is clearly bleeding the account
@Tomoko exactly, seven round trips and all red. trend following only pays when you actually let the trend run
except there is no trend to let run, KCS has been sideways since june. thats literally why the system says hold and not buy
agreed, that backtest log is the most honest part of the whole piece. seven attempts, all red, trend systems punish impatience
those -2.2 and -5.4 swing entries in the log are exactly why forcing trades in a range bleeds you out. cash between 6.80 bids IS the edge here
the -5.4 swing entry is the one that gets me. someone fed the chop exactly what it wanted and called it a strategy
anchoring to the 16.23 high is how people talk themselves into averaging down forever. the call only cares about edge from 7.20 forward
the backtest already answered the hold question, seven forced swings all red while the system sat mostly in cash waiting for 6.80. down 55 percent doesnt mean sell into zero edge
seven forced swings all red in the backtest while the system sat out. honestly the most credible section of the whole writeup
seven red swings is the whole argument for cash. the 6.80 limit order sitting there quietly is the actual strategy
been holding KCS since the kucoin settlement scare, the burn mechanics keep the floor somewhat honest. not selling into weakness
burns help but they didnt stop the slide from 16 to 7. holding a 55% drawdown because of burn mechanics is just hope with extra steps
holding a 55 percent drawdown sounds rough until you reread the backtest. seven straight red swings versus cash and a 6.80 limit, forcing it is how accounts die
burns slowing the bleed from 16 down to 7 doesnt make 7 a buy. the utility still has to show up first
utility did show up, fee burns track volume and that held through the settlement year. the system waiting for 6.80 is discipline, not a verdict on KCS dying
15k plan that is mostly cash waiting for the 6.80 zone instead of aping the first green candle. tomas finally writing these like an adult
ADX 38 with price still under the 200d at 7.58, thats a strong trend in the wrong direction. content to wait for 7.97
adx 38 while price sits under the 200d at 7.58 is a downtrend wearing a hold label. brutal read but accurate
adx 38 with price stuck under the 200d is the cleanest read in the whole writeup. strong trend, wrong direction, 7.97 or nothing
Anchoring the hold case to the 16.23 high is nostalgia math. Either the 6.80 limit fills or it doesnt, the 52 week number is irrelevant to the entry
the 16.23 high matters only as proof kcs traded real volume back then. this market is thinner, every bounce ceiling is lower
thinner market plus fee burns tracking volume means the burn itself slows as liquidity leaves. circular a bit
the circularity is real but it lands differently at 7.20 than at 16. burn keeps shrinking supply while price sits on the floor, the asymmetry at least points up
asymmetry pointing up requires volume to come back tho. burn math at 7.20 with shrinking liquidity is just a slower bleed with better optics
