Trend-following methodology: 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter + ADX regime gate
Data via Yahoo Finance / CoinGecko · Not financial advice. For educational purposes only.
a BUY on something 55% off its 52w high because ADX says trend up. trend followers gonna trend follow i guess, but the MACD still being negative has me side eyeing this one
That is kind of the point though. Trend following buys strength, not the dip. RSI at 57.6 with OBV accumulation is a reasonable entry, not a lottery ticket.
MACD negative after a 55% drawdown is just momentum lagging price. Price above both moving averages already carries the trend case, the crossover will come late as always.
macd catching up late is fine, the risk is buying 55 percent off the high right as the market decides this is a range instead of a trend
MACD on a 55 percent drawdown is measuring last years downtrend, of course its negative. the rising 200d at 88 is the actual tell here
MACD negative at this stage is just lag confirming late. Price above both averages with OBV slope up has been the trend signal since before MACD mattered
golden cross plus volume ratio at 1.39, someone is quietly loading okb. 257 high feels far away but stage 2 just getting started
quietly loading is a funny way to put a 35,000 deployment on blast lol. agree on the obv slope tho, that part doesnt lie
high conviction buy at 114 with ADX at 31.6. oliver eats well or this becomes a lesson about buying strength near a 257 high that aint coming back soon
ADX 31.6 at 114 after a golden cross is textbook stage 2 entry. the 257 high is a bonus if it comes, not the thesis
stage 2 textbook entries work until the macro rips the range out from under you. ADX 31.6 means nothing if the whole market gaps down on fed week
this. a 35,000 deployment announced right before a fed decision is aggressive timing. id stagger the tranches across wednesday at minimum
staggering across wednesday is smart but if the dots come in dovish you pay for the wait with a gap up. tranching cuts both ways on macro event weeks
fed week point is underrated. even a clean stage 2 entry with ADX 31.6 gets shredded by one hawkish dot plot
tranche the entry and the 104.78 stop survives a wick. but yeah dot plot risk is real, ADX at 31.6 wont save you from a gap down
Calling a 55% drawdown a Stage 2 uptrend sounds bold until you look at the actual setup. Price above both averages with OBV climbing is the signal, the 257 print was a different market entirely.
backtest on the page literally shows the strategy down 4.2 percent while buy and hold did +141. ill take my chances with the lagging MACD lol
the backtest column quietly ends the whole argument lol. buy and hold won by 145 points and the engine still wants timing credit
145 points behind buy and hold and the verdict is still stagger in. imagine pitching a timing engine to a risk desk when doing nothing won the backtest lol
obv slope up with volume ratio at 1.39 while price sits above both averages. quiet accumulation into an exchange token is either smart money or wash trading, no in between
257 high with price at 114 and RSI only at 57.6 leaves a lot of road. my hesitation is the whole thesis leans on okx volume staying hot through the rate cycle
fair hesitation but exchange volume holding through a rate cycle is kinda the job description for okx. if fee prints dip two quarters in a row im out too, until then 114 with the 200d rising at 88 is the easier side of the trade
everyone arguing trend vs range and nobody mentioning OKB is a rebate token for an exchange whose volume is the real signal. watch fees not MACD
fees over MACD is the right instinct but okx volume has been flattered by promo trading pairs since spring. id want two clean quarters before trusting it as a leading indicator
two clean quarters is a fair bar but promo volume still lands in fee revenue either way. okb buybacks care about realized fees, not whether the flow was organic
fees are the tell, okx volume has led OKB price by weeks historically. if rebate numbers hold after this print ill trust the flow over the MACD every time
buyback math on realized fees is the whole OKB thesis tbh. promo volume or not, fee revenue prints and the token eats it. 114 is fine as long as okx keeps the top3 volume seat
35k deployment with a stop at 104.78 straight into a fed decision is timing roulette. the trend setup is real, the calendar is the risk
