Giga Legends Is the NFT Collection You Cannot Buy: Convert by December 1 or Lose Your ROMs Forever

One of the most-watched blockchain games just announced its final NFT collection — and holders have two weeks to act or lose everything. Gigaverse has confirmed that Giga Legends, its new flagship collection on Ethereum, cannot be bought at any price. Between November 16 and December 1, a Legend can only be obtained by converting assets already in your wallet — and when the window shuts, the supply locks forever. For players still holding ROMs on the Abstract chain, the deadline is brutal: unconverted ROMs disappear when Abstract goes offline, because wallets on that chain cannot be recognized on Ethereum.

The Hook: No Sale, No Allowlist, No Second Chances

In a market where every new NFT project seems to launch with an allowlist, a public mint and a marketing blitz, Gigaverse is doing the opposite. According to the team’s announcement, reported by eGamers.io, there is no way to buy into Giga Legends directly. The only path is conversion — turning existing Gigaverse assets into the new collection during a two-week window starting November 16. Once it closes on December 1, the supply is locked, and the team says this will be the last Gigaverse collection ever.

That design is a bet on loyalty over speculation. Instead of new money flowing in from strangers, the collection will be owned entirely by the people who were already holding Gigaverse assets — the players, not the flippers. It is one of the most aggressive holder-first distributions a major game has attempted, and the market reacted exactly the way you would expect when a forced decision meets a deadline.

How the Conversion Works: Two Paths, One Deadline

Which path you take depends on what is in your wallet today:

  • GLHFers — the original Ethereum collection — will be airdropped as Legends on a one-for-one basis when the window closes, keeping their current art.
  • ROMs — the NFTs used on the Abstract chain — must be burned in exchange for points, with one Legend costing 24 points. Point values depend on tier: common Silver ROMs give 3 points, while the rarest Voids give 36.
  • Leftover points can be spent on gacha machines or transferred to another wallet.

The hard edge of the deal belongs to ROM holders. If you do not convert before Abstract goes offline, your ROMs are gone — not devalued, gone, because Abstract wallets cannot be read on Ethereum. One exception exists: the GLHFSTR token project holds around 300 GLHFers that will not be converted; those token holders receive points instead. Cofounder Dith said the team also considered rewarding players and partner communities with allocations but concluded it “would just dilute the conversion for our holders.”

Why the Team Is Doing This

The reasoning, per the team, is growth. Gigaverse has outgrown a single game — a broader franchise is taking shape, with Gigaverse Online now in development. ROMs were originally designed as factories for the first game’s economy, and tying the whole ecosystem’s flagship asset to one product’s fortunes no longer made sense. In their words: “An asset tied to the whole ecosystem shouldn’t rise and fall with one product’s economy, and new players shouldn’t need an old NFT to compete.”

Notably, Legends will generate no yield. Gigaverse is presenting them purely as collector items — a striking choice in a play-to-earn industry that spent years promising tokens and passive income. It is a deliberate break from the old model: value is meant to come from scarcity and the franchise’s future, not from emissions.

How the Market Reacted: A Fire Sale With a Countdown

Whenever holders face a convert-or-lose deadline, some choose door number three: sell. The reaction was violent. In the 24 hours after the news, the ROM floor dropped 42% to 0.027 ETH (about 61 USD), while trading volume exploded by more than 2,000% — 138 sales in a single day versus just 27 across the entire previous six days, per eGamers.io. The GLHFer floor slipped 23% to 0.245 ETH, roughly 546 USD.

The selling actually equalized the two paths: eight of the cheapest ROMs now cost about 0.22 ETH — almost the same as one GLHFer at around 0.24 ETH. In other words, the market has efficiently priced both routes to a Legend at nearly identical cost, which is either a coincidence or a sign that traders are paying very close attention.

The Verdict: What This Means for NFT Gamers

If you hold ROMs, the to-do list is simple and urgent: decide before the window closes. Convert if you want a piece of the franchise’s future on Ethereum, or sell into the elevated volume if you do not — but doing nothing means losing the asset entirely. If you hold GLHFers, you can simply wait for the one-for-one airdrop. And if you are watching from the sidelines, this experiment is worth following either way. A no-sale, no-yield, supply-locked collection from an established game is a genuine test of whether NFT value can rest on community and scarcity alone — a question the whole industry has been arguing about since the last boom ended.

  1. No sale, no allowlist, convert only between November 16 and December 1 or your ROMs vanish when Abstract goes offline. That is one of the harsher deadlines I have seen a game ship.

    1. @Rob Usva the brutal part is Abstract wallets not being recognized on Ethereum at all. Not a fee issue, not a bridge delay, the assets just stop existing. Feels like a forced migration with extra steps.

      1. This is the part I keep coming back to. If wallets cannot be recognized on Ethereum, the team could have run a snapshot + claim portal instead of forcing everyone to migrate inside two weeks. Feels avoidable

    2. hardest deadline since the Abstract shutdown notice itself. nov 16 to dec 1, no direct sale, no allowlist, convert or your ROMs are gone. setting three calendar reminders lol

      1. half my reminders are for retry attempts, day one traffic is gonna melt the conversion site. converting mid window costs nothing extra and skips the queue

  2. GLHFers get a 1:1 airdrop while ROM holders have to burn for points? 24 points per Legend and Silver ROMs only give 3, abstract gang is getting squeezed hard

    1. the silver ROM math is brutal, 8 burns for one Legend. hope the gold tiers pay out way better or abstract holders are toast

      1. 8 silver burns for one Legend and even gold ROMs barely move the needle on 24 points. ran my wallet math last night, converting feels less like a reward and more like a toll booth

      2. same math here, my silver stack converts to one Legend and change. tempted to just take the GLHF airdrop path instead, at least that one is 1:1 and no burn ladder

        1. the glhf 1:1 path sounds cleaner until you remember its 1:1 into the same locked supply. neither route gives you an exit if the game doesnt retain players

          1. retention is the whole ballgame. gigaverse has not shipped player numbers in months and locked supply just means illiquid bags if actives keep sliding. converting anyway, but zero illusions about the floor

  3. Holder-only distribution with no sale is smart, flippers have nothing to frontrun. But locking supply forever on December 1 is rough for anyone who misses the window

  4. Actually kind of refreshing that you cannot buy in. No mint frenzy, no snipers, just existing holders deciding what their wallet is worth. Still converting mine day one of the window though, not risking the deadline.

    1. converting day one is right but expect brutal gas on nov 16 when everyone piles in at once. seen these window openers before, patience costs a few hours not points
