Ripple’s Best Year Ever vs XRP’s Worst Since 2022: Why the Company Is Winning While the Token Loses

Ripple just announced its best business year on record, closing in on a 900 million USD annualized product revenue run rate. Yet XRP is on track for its worst annual performance since 2022, down 28.8% this year. For everyday investors, that widening gap between the company’s commercial success and its token’s price is the story that matters.

The Hook: A Record Year and a Reeling Token

On October 28, Ripple said it expects to exit 2026 with a record 900 million USD annualized product revenue run rate, supported by expanding institutional partnerships and growing demand for its financial infrastructure. President Monica Long called it Ripple’s “best year ever.” But CryptoRank data shows XRP has lost 28.8% of its value in 2026, extending last year’s 11.6% decline, after falling from a high of 2.40 USD to below 1 USD in August before recovering to around 1.31 USD.

If the losses persist through December, XRP would record its worst annual performance since its 59.2% plunge in 2022, and its first back-to-back losing years since 2018 and 2019. For a token that gained 82.5% in 2023 and 235.7% in 2024, the reversal is brutal.

How Ripple Built Its Banner Year

Ripple’s announcement attributed the record year to organic growth plus the integration of businesses acquired during a spending spree that topped 2.4 billion USD last year. The deals include prime brokerage firm Hidden Road (now Ripple Prime) for 1.25 billion USD, treasury management provider GTreasury for 1 billion USD, and stablecoin payments platform Rail for 200 million USD.

Those acquisitions pushed Ripple beyond cross-border payments into institutional trading, financing, clearing, and corporate cash management. CEO Brad Garlinghouse said the strategy is to bring financial services traditionally offered by separate providers onto integrated infrastructure, adding: “Ripple is bringing all of that together, with our partners, to enable the Internet of Value.”

The numbers behind the boldness are substantial:

  • 16 trillion USD+ in transactions enabled in 2025 across products including Ripple Prime and Ripple Treasury.
  • More than 1,700 institutions and businesses now use Ripple’s infrastructure, including Standard Chartered, DBS, HSBC, Robinhood, and BNY.
  • Multi-product customers tripled this year.
  • RLUSD, Ripple’s stablecoin, has grown more than 88% this year to a market capitalization of 2.6 billion USD.
  • More than 85 licenses secured across its operations, including final approval for Ripple National Trust Bank from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on October 26.

The Core Conflict: Company Wins Do Not Equal Token Wins

Here is the uncomfortable truth for XRP holders: Ripple is a company, and XRP is a token. Nothing in Ripple’s revenue report obliges the company’s commercial success to flow into the token’s price. Much of Ripple’s growth is coming from businesses that do not require XRP at all, such as prime brokerage, treasury management for corporations, and the RLUSD stablecoin, which is dollar-backed rather than XRP-backed.

The broader market has not helped. Bitcoin itself has lost roughly 8% this year after plunging below 60,000 USD at one point, and remains about 36% below the record high of roughly 126,000 USD it set in October 2025. Ethereum is down about 20% year to date and Solana has shed about 17%. XRP’s 28.8% decline makes it an underperformer even within a weak field.

Market Implications: What This Means for Your Portfolio

The lesson for everyday investors is to separate narratives from numbers. “Ripple is winning” is a true statement about a private company’s revenue. It is not, by itself, a reason for XRP to rise. The token’s fate still rides on market-wide liquidity, regulatory developments, and whether institutional payment flows actually create demand for XRP itself.

Watch two things. First, whether Ripple’s payment products that do use XRP show genuine volume growth, since the network is approaching 150 billion USD in cumulative transaction volume. Second, whether the broad crypto market recovers, because in a year when Bitcoin struggles, altcoins with weaker momentum tend to fall harder.

The Verdict

Ripple’s 2026 is genuinely historic: record revenue, marquee banking partners, a national trust bank charter, and a fast-growing stablecoin. But XRP’s 2026 has been miserable, and if December closes red, the token will post its first consecutive losing years in seven years. The gap between the two is not a paradox to be resolved. It is a reminder that when you buy a token, you are not buying equity in the company behind it. Do your own research, size positions accordingly, and do not confuse a corporate press release with a price catalyst.

The cryptocurrency market remains highly volatile. This article is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice.

  1. 1.31 off the august sub 1 print is a decent recovery nobody celebrates because the high was 2.40. token versus company gap in one chart

  2. 900M run rate and xrp down 28.8% this year. at some point you admit token price and company revenue just are not connected

  3. ripple posts a 900m run rate and calls it the best year ever while xrp sits at minus 28.8%. the token is not the company, people learn this the expensive way every cycle

    1. exactly. company revenue never flows to holders, that bell does not ring. xrp bags waiting on a payout that cant exist

  4. Monica Long celebrating a record year while the token does its worst since 2022 is a masterclass in selective celebration
