Tonkeeper Is Now Keeper: The TON Ecosystem’s Biggest Self-Custody Wallet Goes Multichain
Tonkeeper, one of the largest self-custodial wallets in The Open Network ecosystem, has rebranded to Keeper and added support for six blockchains beyond TON, turning a TON-native product into a full multichain wallet. The wallet now covers TON, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, and Base, with plans for cross-chain swaps, perpetual futures and a broader financial-services stack over the coming year.
The rebrand, announced Tuesday, reflects a reality the team says it saw in its own user base: the people who trusted Tonkeeper stopped living on a single chain.
“Tonkeeper earned its place as the home of TON, trusted by millions of people around the world,” Andrew Rogozov, founder and CEO of the Open Platform, which backs the wallet, said in a statement. “Keeper is the next chapter: taking the simplicity we’re known for beyond TON and into the broader crypto economy.”
The signal came from users, not strategy decks
Keeper’s chief marketing officer, Nikita Monastyrskiy, told Decrypt that the decision was driven by observed behavior rather than a pivot for its own sake. “The signal came from our own users. The people who trusted Tonkeeper stopped living on a single chain,” Monastyrskiy said. “They hold USDT on Tron, Bitcoin, ETH, and assets on the L2s, and they were managing all of it across four or five apps while keeping their most important one for TON.”
That usage pattern — multichain holdings managed across several wallets — has become one of the defining pain points of self-custody. Keeper’s bet is that a wallet already trusted as the TON default can win those users’ entire asset stack rather than a single chain’s slice. Monastyrskiy added that the Tonkeeper name no longer reflected users’ multichain needs, prompting the shorter, chain-agnostic rebrand.
Self-custodial wallets leave control of crypto assets with their users instead of an exchange or another intermediary, which makes them both the front door to crypto for new users and a long-term trust anchor for existing ones.
Battery, fees, and the year ahead
One of the wallet’s differentiating features, Battery, lets users pay transaction fees without holding each network’s native token — removing one of the most persistent friction points in multichain self-custody, where users routinely find themselves unable to move assets because they lack gas on the right network. The company plans to expand Battery to every supported network within a year, though it did not say which networks support the feature at launch.
The roadmap goes well beyond storage. Keeper plans to add cross-chain swaps, DeFi products, spending tools, a decentralized-app browser, a loyalty program, and perpetual-futures trading, though it did not provide launch dates. “Adding new chains was just the first step,” the team said. “Over the coming year, Keeper will focus on turning its multichain capabilities into something users rely on every day, not just a place to store assets, but a wallet they actively use.”
A TON ecosystem stretching its legs
The move follows a recognizable pattern across the TON ecosystem. MyTonWallet rebranded to My Wallet in June after expanding from TON to 11 networks, and the TON-based decentralized exchange STON.fi launched cross-chain swaps in July, connecting TON with Tron and several Ethereum-compatible networks. Telegram, meanwhile, made TON the exclusive blockchain for crypto-enabled mini apps in January 2025 and took a larger role in directing the network the following year.
The Open Platform, which backs Keeper and develops other TON products, raised 28.5 million USD at a 1 billion USD valuation in 2025. It also develops the self-custodial TON Wallet available inside Telegram, and the broader ecosystem has kept expanding its financial offerings — from lower-barrier staking introduced through Telegram in June 2025 to a 500 million USD tokenized Telegram bond fund launched with the TON Foundation.
For Tron, Bitcoin and Ethereum users, the practical effect of Keeper’s expansion is one more credible self-custody option with strong mobile roots in Telegram’s user base. For TON, the message is more nuanced: the ecosystem’s flagship wallet now treats TON as home base rather than the whole territory. TON’s token traded near 1.30 USD on Wednesday, and the network’s future increasingly looks like integration with the broader multichain economy rather than isolation from it.
“We are expanding beyond the TON ecosystem while staying closely connected to it,” Monastyrskiy said. “This way users finally get one app for everything. Everyone else gets to find out why we are the number one self-custodial wallet on TON.” One wallet, seven chains, and a year-long sprint to become an everyday financial app — that is the bet Keeper is now placing.
four or five apps to manage usdt on tron, btc and eth sounds exactly like my phone before i gave up. keeper covering all six chains in one rebrand is overdue
rogozov quoting users holding assets across l2s is the whole industry in one quote. single chain wallets are dead, that just took a while to accept
six chains in one app sounds great until you notice swaps and perps are still listed as coming later. rebrand shipped before the actual features, classic
cross chain swaps parked under coming year is generous framing lol. still, one seed guarding seven chains today beats juggling five apps while the rest ships
name first, features later is standard. keeper still handles ton better than any multichain wallet ever bothered to. swaps can ship next quarter
fair but a rebrand is a weekend of work and cross chain swaps are a quarter of engineering. ship the name now, features when ready, standard playbook
rebrands are also migration risk. every ton maxi re-entering their seed phrase this week is quietly praying nothing breaks mid rename
names ship in a weekend, cross chain swaps take a quarter of engineering. judge keeper when the swaps actually land
@wagmi_wouter the roadmap literally says cross chain swaps land within the year, rebranding first is how you keep millions of installs while you build. calm down
same, my phone had tonkeeper, trust, metamask and two exchange apps. one seed guarding seven chains is the whole pitch, the rest is bonus
rebranding tonkeeper to keeper because users fled to tron, btc and the l2s is the most honest pivot ever. they basically admitted ton alone is not enough
Or they read the room before the wallet became obsolete. Managing USDT on Tron plus BTC across five different apps was miserable.
admitting ton alone cant pay the bills is refreshingly honest tbh. most single chain wallets just quietly rot instead of rebranding
rogozov spent years telling everyone TON was the everything chain and now ships a multichain wallet himself. quiet admission if i ever saw one
arbitrum and base on day one but still no solana listed in the six? feels like a deliberate snub, solana users are the ones juggling 4 wallets
solana is probably the next batch, shipping btc and tron first is about payment volume not vibes. usdt on tron alone justifies the six they picked
tron and btc are payment volume chains, solana users already have phantom. zero business reason for keeper to chase that crowd in batch one
the bit about users keeping tonkeeper for ton while juggling 4-5 other apps is such a damning stat. consolidating now is smart
that stat cuts both ways though, they kept every ton user while competitors grabbed multichain share. late pivot still beats obsolete
kept every ton user is doing a lot of work there. article says those same users were juggling 4-5 other apps anyway, so retention with one foot out the door is not really retention. right pivot, just two years late
two years late but with actual ton users still inside the app. metamask multichain was late and ugly too, being early and dead helps nobody
kept every ton user is doing a lot of work there. article says those same users were juggling 4-5 other apps anyway, so retention with one foot out the door is not really retention. right pivot, just two years late
posting the same take twice kinda proves the two years late point lol. but yeah, retention with one foot out the door is shaky ground
two years late is still two years of ton brand trust nobody else has. the real fight is keeper vs metamask for people who never wanted an eth-first wallet in the first place
metamask still never shipped native tron usdt support and that is half the float right there. keeper covering tron day one keeps the payment crowd locked in
rogozov saying users stopped living on a single chain is the realest wallet quote this year. every team ignoring that ends up a museum piece
the seed migration worry from tinu is fair but i could not find a single incident report from the tonkeeper to keeper rename. credit where due
