Trend-following methodology: 50d/200d MA crossover + RSI filter + ADX regime gate

Backtest turns 10,000 into 5,285 and the call is still BUY at high conviction. someone walk me through that math
the -47.2% is two years of chop and whipsaws baked in. trend following buys the regime, not the backtest. ADX 47.2 is the part you should be reading
the math is the strategy kept you in cash during the -80% slide. 5285 beats the 2000 you would have holding the bag the whole way down
the math is the strategy sat in cash through the 55.70 to 11 slide. 5285 beats the 2000 you end up with bagholding the full -80, even if the backtest header looks ugly
Agreed, sitting out the slide from 55.70 is the entire edge. The 5285 versus 2000 comparison is what sold me on the plan too.
80% down from 55.70 and RSI 64.6 with room before 82. 11.98 resistance is the whole trade here imo
7.05 is my line in the sand too, below that the whole stage 2 talk is dead
if 7.05 goes the 11.98 talk never mattered anyway. risk defined under the floor, rest is noise
7.05 floor talk is fine but the article also has the 52w high at 55.70. thats a long walk back for a 10k deployment, id rather see it reclaim 11.98 first
adx 47.2 with obv rising is honestly the part that gets me. trend-following on avax at 10.92 feels way better than catching the 55 knife
@subgraph_seb vol ratio 1.43 backing it up too, not just a slow grind. agreed this aint the same setup as last year
9 bull factors and the single bear one is being down 80% from the high. that bear factor has been the story of avax for two years lol
And that single bear factor is also why the entry exists at all. Nobody gets 10.92 on a trending avax unless the 55.70 bagholders already paid the tuition.
the 10.92 entry only exists because of that bear factor tho. cheap AND trending is the entire setup working as intended
rsi 64.6 already tho. entry here is fine for trend but dont be shocked if it chops back to the 50d first
Chop back to the 50d is exactly what happened to me on the last AVAX entry. Held anyway and it worked out, but filling slowly around 10.92 makes more sense than a lump sum here.
50d sits at 8.22 which is basically on top of the 200d too, a retest there turns the RSI problem into a gift. tranches exist for exactly this
the 8.22 shelf sitting right on the 200d is doing all the heavy lifting in this thesis. if it breaks the 7.05 stop is barely below, tranche sizing is the only sane response
a full -80 drawdown from 55.70 and the plan is still rated BUY. respect the conviction but that header alone will keep half the comments section bearish lol
tbf the backtest only has to be right about the next 10%, not the last 80. id trust a cold model over my own cope any day
the drawdown is literally the lone bear factor in the box, the model prices it. what killed people was holding 55 to 11, the signal sat in cash through that
11.98 resistance with RSI at 64.6 still leaves room before overbought. first avax setup in two years i actually like the look of
10k on one alt with RSI at 64.6 already is brave, but the 7.05 invalidation makes the sizing defensible. still waiting on a retest of the 50d before i touch it
same on waiting for the 50d retest. the 1.43 volume ratio says the move is real but paying 10.9 into RSI 64 is buying comfort, not edge
rsi 64.6 with a 1.43 vol ratio backing the move, this aint a dead cat. still weird typing avax at 10.92 after watching 55 print tho
holding bags from the 55 era and watching 10.92 get called brave is a special kind of pain lol. at least the signal is not telling anyone to buy the top this time
